Sarasota Costco Opening

Construction has been underway on the new Sarasota Costco since December of 2011. While we don't have an exact date for the Sarasota Costco opening, we do know that the company is shooting for the Summer of 2012.

The Sarasota Costco location will be adding approximately 200 jobs to the local economy at their new 145,000 square foot warehouse. It will be attached to Westfield Sarasota Square Mall at the site of the former Dillard's on Palmer Ranch.

Sarasota Costco Update

There is still no public word about when Costco will begin demolition of the old Dillards store at Westfield Sarasota Square Mall in order to start construction of their new Sarasota Costco. That being said, I drove by over the weekend after attending the 2011 Crystall Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition on Siesta Key and noticed that there is some pre-demo activity taking place. The photos below were taken on Sunday and it looks to me like the Sarasota Costco in Palmer Ranch may finally begin construction soon.

The 2011 Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sandsculpting Competition is under way on beautiful Siesta Key in Sarasota Florida. This marks the 2nd annual event and the community is looking forward to it's continued success. The #1 beach in the United States is a favorite of many of the artists as it represents the best sand available for their works of art.

24 Master sandsculptors will be competing for the chance to be named the best of the best at this years 2011 Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sandsculpting Competition.

The event takes place at Siesta Key Public Beach. Parking may be a challenge so please visit the event website for detailed information on where you can park in order to take a shuttle.

Admission is $5 and is well worth it. There is food, live music and plenty for the family to do.

I will be heading out to Siesta Key today or Sunday to admire the amazing sand sculptures and will be posting photos within a few days so please check back!

The photos included here are from last year's Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sandsculpting Competition. It was the first annual event and was a huge success. Enjoy the photos and if you are local to the area, you couldn't ask for a better weekend to visit the event! Mid 60's with plenty of sunshine....ahh Sarasota and Siesta Key truly are paradise!
