The Real Estate World Today

In our market and trying times today, I think that people too many times search for the negative instead of the positive that is around them. When I think of the opportunities for home ownership that are out there in today's market and the people that are passing that opportunity by for one reason or another, it saddens me. I got into this business to help people obtain a portion of the American Dream. That portion is home ownership.

Day in and day out I am continuously searching the internet looking for great deals. Just the other day I came across a web page that shows the 300 most recent listings in real estate in Alexandria VA. Then it crossed my mind that there were 300 opportunities that people are letting slip away because they are not taking advantage of the market today.

If it were me and I was in the market to buy a house, now would be the time that I start looking. Rates are at a great place, home prices are ripe for the picking, and the inventory level is there to choose from. The only thing holding this whole thing back is you, the buyer. The Realtor, lender, appraiser, inspector, and title company are all ready to move. Pick up the phone and get started today.

Knoxville TN: A great place to live

When I lived in Roswell GA, I wrote a series of post on Suburban Atlanta where I highlighted different suburbs and areas of Atlanta. Well, I have decided to carry that on here in Knoxville and right about the suburbs here, but with a different twist. I am going to write about the many differnet cities and also highlight some areas of Knoxville such as Fountain City, Fort Sanders, and Bearden Hills to name a view. Why would also bring out neighborhoods like these? That is simple. The biggest reason is, these are areas that are significant in Knoxville.

Knoxville in itself is a great place to live, get an education, and work. It is where the country meets the city life and where the hills and mountains span as far as the eye can see. Simply put, Knoxville is a great place to live, learn, and grow. So, with that said, I hope that you will be checking out the new series that will be published every Tuesday.

Saddle up, it's Rodeo Time.

Growing up as a small boy, I can remember coming home one day to find out that my brother-in-law and sister had bought tickets to take me to see the Rodeo that was coming to town. Now, for me being a southern boy, it was one of the greatest things that I could have gotten. The day of the Rodeo, I could not wait to get to the stadium. Once there, the open lot next door had a ton of horse trailers and you could smell the Rodeo in the air. It might have been the most exciting event that I could have gone to.

Fast forward to 2008 and it is almost time for Las Vegas to be invaded by the National Finals Rodeo to come to town. If you have yet to get your National Final Rodeo tickets, then get off the horse and get on the ball because time is running out. Where else can you see Saddle bronc riding, Tie-down roping, Bull riding, Barrel racing (the only event exclusive to women), Bareback riding, Steer wrestling, and Team roping?

The event is set to take place between December 4th and December 13th and will be held in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center. This is the home court for the UNLV basketball team and by hosting the NFR, the basketball team plays a few of their away games for about 12 days every December while the NFR is in the Thomas & Mack Center.

Atlanta's F2 Tornado

Last week, Atlanta witnessed a F2 tornado that left our beautiful downtown in shambles. A friend of mine sent me some pictures that just sent chills up and down my spine. 7 years of living in Florida and dealing with the hurricanes sis not prepare me for the tornadoes or hail storms that we have seen here. The city has sustained over 100 million dollars in damage and is in the process of rebuilding. These pictures just show the power that a storm like this has.

Suburban Atlanta Series - Dunwoody, GA

Dunwoody Georgia is a small suburb outside of Atlanta Georgia. It is 14 miles North of Atlana and 2 miles east of Sandy Springs. The population of Dunwoody is 32,808. Dunwoody has yet to vote on if they will become their own city yet. It is suppose to do that this year. With that said, Dunwoody is home to some famous people such as P Diddy. Superstars like P Diddy can be found all over the metro Atlanta area because of the large airport, the many different sports teams, the massive amounts of malls and shopping centers, the huge amount of arts and musical venues, and the great restaurants in the area.

Dunwoody's Parks and Recreation has a vast amount of programs for youth and adult alike. Camp Woodmont on top of Lookout Mountain is a fun place for the kids ages 6-14 to go for summer camp. Even though this is not actually in Dunwoody Georgia itself, it is still a great attraction for families moving to the area. Camp Woodmont is almost in the upper left hand corner of Georgia where the three states almost intersect: Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. It sits on the top of Lookout Mountain. From the top of Lookout Mountain, you can see seven states. There are also many other attractions there to take in.

Now that we have wandered off the beaten path, it is time to get back to our fair Community of Dunwoody Georgia. Dunwoody also is home to the Dunwoody Nature Center that was established in 1990 by volunteers as a non-profit group to develop, improve, and preserve 22 acres of Dekalb County's Dunwoody Park as a natural classroom for environmental education. They are also currently building a treehouse on the preserve.

Dunwoody also offers some great schools from the toddler age right into adulthood. You can obtain a complete education and never have to leave the city. Also, they have many places of worship in Dunwoody. From the small to the larger, there is some place for all to worship how you may. And most are conveniently place amongst the city so that if you wanted to, you would be able to walk. The city also has a lot of sidewalks that make walking even safer.

As for shopping, Dunwoody sports one of the largest malls in the greater Atlanta area: Perimeter Mall. This mall has 200 specialty shops and is anchored by Bloomingdale's, Dillard’s, Macy’s, and Nordstrom. And, while you are shopping, you can eat in their massive food court or if you would rather have the sit down and dine with service experience, there are 6 signature restaurants in the mall. You can choose from Garrison's Broiler & Tap, Goldfish, Maggiano's Little Italy, Seasons 52, The Cheesecake Factory, or Wildfire, whichever suites your needs for the occasion. All 6 of these dining experiences will leave you stuffed.

Dunwoody offers a variety of companies to work for in the area if traveling into the city of Atlanta for employment is not what you are looking for. The Dunwoody Georgia Business Directory is the best source of the many different companies that are in the area. If looking to buy, then look no further than our very own Nancy Rivera of Re/Max Leading Edge. Put her to work for you today and you will be buying your next home tomorrow and be on your way to settling in before summer.

Now, I hope that you enjoyed your little tour of this fair little community. But, before we go, you also have to know about one of the best theaters in all of the Greater Atlanta Areas. It is called Perimeter Pointe Stadium 10 and it has the best seating in town.
