Diverse in my disciplines, I constantly seek not only to exceed expectations, but to establish and enhance business relationships.
in the last 24-48 hours, SEO types have been blogging about a mysterious shift in the Google SERPs. Notably, sites which had been a target of SEO focus and efforts in the past have recently recovered their positions in Google and displaced more recent content that has been the focus of more recent SEO effort. Some of my own websites underwent this change in the last 24 hours. What's really baffling is that when I increase my effort for new target sites, the old one moves up in the SERPs. No one knows if this is temporary or a result of changes in the google algorithms.
More to follow.

I have been examining how to effectively use flash as a page background. Why would I want to do this?
I have seen some fade in/out background effects and indeed done the same on some web design using javascript. The problem arises when the backgrounds are images. The javascript executes before the image loads and the effect is less than elegant. My choice is to write script that preloads the images. Then I began considering whether optimized flash would do a better job.
Here's what I've learned so far:
If you set flash wmode to opaque, it can be layered behind html (think suckerfish menus)
so far, testing in FF, Safari, and all versions of IE (except 5 which has some problems) shows the flash and html cooperating as desired.
Now the question - does this overload CPU or bandwith?
TBC...

Did you see those stock market fluctuations today? It's amazing that the speculators are still there waiting for every bounce. The market fell 800 points only to come back up around halfway as the buyers piled on for a short term deal, creating even more bounce. Near term volatility promises to be greater as traders anticipate another rate adjustment by the Fed.
Ironically, a real long term downturn in the market could signal an increase in home sales, including homes for sale in Fullerton, CA and Brea, CA as investors look for bargains elsewhere.
