Hiking the Franklin Mountains is a very affordable weekend activity. When you access the park, the cost is $4 a person. Be sure to take plenty of water with you. At least 3 liters a person if you are going to hike Mount Franklin North. As always, be cautious of snakes and watch your step. When you are standing almost 3,000 ft above El Paso, be proud…you are at one of the highest points in the state of Texas.

EL PASO — Storm clouds gather over the southern horizon, rising toward the heavens. At the same time, the hot summer sun is setting in the west as the sky begins to turn a red-orange. After living in El Paso for two years, this time of year is always exciting for me.
With around $80 million in construction funds, look for an expansion of Loop 375/TransMountain road on El Paso's West Side. With this expansion, roads will be widened from 2 lanes to four lanes along with elevated roadways at intersections.
