My craziest memory of Thanksgiving was when I was about 7 a turkey jumped over our back fence it came out of no where.
It was a month before Thanksgiving and my step dad ran in the garage and ran out back hollering that's Thanksgiving dinner, he chased the turkey around with a machete like something out of a movie then the turkey jumped the fence and got away by an inch. It was so odd we laughed for months.
I think we ended up eating KFC that year. And I remember my dad fussing for months about how many different ways he would of cooked that turkey. I guess it was a big deal because he didnt want to buy one.
Whats your craziest Thanksgiving?

Someone just emailed me to ask about the differences in real estate insurance.
Let me clarify when buying a home there are many different kinds of insurance.
1. Hazard/Fire Insurance-required to have, protects you for fire and wind, extra coverages can be added as needed or required, flood, earthquake, upgraded coverages,etc.... Paid in your monthly payment on VA, FHA, and most less than 25% down LTV Conv loans.
2. PMI/with MIP- Private Mortgage Insurance- Required on CONV and FHA Loans usually where the buyer puts down less than 20% -its purpose is to help the lender if the buyer defaults on the loan-the premium is charged in to the monthly payment until the home has about 78%-80% equity and then it goes away. MIP-Mortgage insurance premiumis the set up fee for the PMI paid with closing cost or financed in to the total loan. You can talk to lenders about split loans 80/20, 80/10/10, to help avoid paying PMI AND MIP
3. Mortgage Protection InsuranceMPI- Is optional usually can set this policy up after you have closed on the home. This insurance will pay off balance of mortgage in case of deaf. Check with your mortgage provider to see what company they would recommend.

Today is the last day for commuters to use the Jordan Bridge in Portsmouth to Chesapeake. 7,000 plus people will have to take an alternate route. This means more traffic in the Portsmouth Tunnel and on S. Military Highway. For those of you that work at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth Shipyard, Downtown Portsmouth, or Coast Guard Bases this will be a new headache for you. I feel your pain!!!
For those of you considering buying in Portsmouth, if you work in the area you will not be effected but for those who work in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, or Norfolk. You may need to reconsider. Or you may need my assistance finding the best areas closest to this area. According to the pilot online, "The real traffic nightmare could begin in July, when a project to replace the Gilmerton Bridge will reduce a section of Military Highway from four to two lanes for 40 months. During that time, peak afternoon backups could grow from 2.1 miles to 3 miles at the Downtown Tunnel and from 2.8 miles to 3.9 miles at the Midtown Tunnel, according to a Hampton Roads Metropolitan Planning Organization analysis. The High-Rise Bridge on Interstate 64 could face 1,400 more vehicles each day." This will inconvenience everyone no matter which side they are on.
Hampton Roads is slowly adding themselves to the traffic nightmare cities list. Along with our many tunnels and bridges the road construction has been very slow. Hopefully, you have a map or navigation system to find the best shortcuts thru the city.
If your relocating to the area and trying to figure out what areas to move to in relationship to the area that you will be working in then contact me and I can help you.
