Hamilton Park is a popular neighborhood west of Lancaster City. Surprisingly, many city and Lancaster County residents aren't familiar with this beautiful neighborhood. Hamilton Park is a place that has a strong neighborhood feel. Many residents have lived in the same house for decades. Streets are quiet, with children riding bikes and people relaxing on porches.
The neighborhood was originally housing built for workers at the Hamilton Watch company. The Hamilton Watch company was founded in 1892. At the time, railroads had a need for extremely accurate and reliable watches. Hamilton made their watches to this high standard, and continued to be one of America's top brands until 1969 when it was bought by a Swiss company.
The old watch factory tower is one of the most recognizable properties in Lancaster County. On the western edge of Lancaster city, Hamilton Watch Company tower is now a condominium. The transformation from a factory to residential real estate is a success story of historic preservation in Lancaster.

Last weekend my wife and I went hiking along Pequea Creek. From what I can tell, not many people know about the small, beautiful campground located just of Route 324 in Conestoga Township.
The campground is a natural beauty, with the Pequea Creek running through a grassy flood plane. The trees in the area are some of the tallest in Lancaster County. If you are driving or walking on 324 just past the campground, have a look at the trees on the north side of the road (your right if you're heading toward the river).
There is a short hiking trail that starts in the campground. It's also possible to hike down to the Susquehanna River. If you prefer, you can drive to the river and park in the boat launch near the Pequea Boating Club.
Covered Bridge over Pequea Creek
On the way home, we passed this motorhome trying to cross this covered bridge. We didn't stick around to find out what happened. They were sitting in the road, blowing the horn the last we saw.
Visiting the campground creates an impression of the natural beauty of Lancaster and the variety of Lancaster County homes. Unless you need to live in a huge metropolis, Lancaster County real estate has something for everyone.
