He is easy to recognize

No more yelling....Mom? ....when coming through the door
The great big loving hugs will be no more

He had asked for my blessing to marry my daughter
I was endeared by his ways to bring her laughter
We were hoping for a brand new chapter
With Faith and Hope and Love that matters

My daughter is left with sadness and grief
There seems to be no hope for relief
But the comfort of wonderful friends around
And when you listen you hear the sound
Of God's love that has begun to surround
And offers a feeling of peace that abounds

I am not one to typically speak out on political views. I usually leave that to the politicians and those around me that are more knowledgeable in that arena. But I do understand the need for electricity and gas to heat your homes and cook your meals. I do understand what it could mean for those bills to take on a substantial increase. I am certainly all for keeping our country clean and preventing pollution. But I don't think the average Alabama family is in a position to absorb the cost to do that.

At a time when so many Americans are suffering from the so called economic crisis and families are struggling to retain their jobs and save their homes from foreclosure, this new bill called the Waxman-Markey Climate Bill is being debated by The House Energy and Commerce Committee. This so called 'cap and trade' system is a national energy tax that will just add to the burdens of Alabamians by increasing the energy costs of the average family by $3100 per year! It will cause the cost of doing business to go up and increase loss of jobs to other states and countries.

WE MUST UNITE AGAINST THIS BILL!

Congressman Spencer Bachus is serving his ninth term in the U.S. House of Representatives. As the congressman for the Sixth District of Alabama, Bachus represents all of the counties of Bibb, Chilton, and Shelby, and parts of Coosa, Jefferson, St. Clair, and Tuscaloosa counties.

At a time when families and businesses in Alabama are struggling, the last thing anyone can afford is to pay even more for gas and electricity. Yet Congress is now considering legislation that would impose a national energy tax. The House Energy and Commerce Committee is debating the Waxman-Markey climate bill which would impose a ‘cap and trade’ system that would inevitably raise energy prices. I have recorded a short video on this legislation.

This is of such great concern to Alabama that all seven members of our House delegation have sent a bipartisan letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee expressing our concerns about the further damage this could do to our economy. MOTHERS DAY! That special day in May when we make a special effort to honor our Mothers and show appreciation for all that they have done for us.

A day of breakfast in bed, being showered with gifts and flowers and many other mementos that show Mom how much she means to you! For some it is just a phone call or a beautiful card in the mail, for others it can be a large family gathering and special meal prepared together or an easy dinner out in Moms favorite restaurant.

But however it is celebrated it is a very special day that Mom's look forward to and cherish as their special day to celebrate one of the greatest milestones of their life...the day that they became a Mother.

And as it is celebrated with great respect and love it is also fun to reflect back on the wonderful years of raising children and the many trials and tribulations that comes with it.

And in that light we bring to you some of the famous MOM-ISMS that have evolved over time!

• Money does not grow on trees.
• Don't make that face or it'll freeze in that position.
• If I talked to my mother like you talk to me....
• Always change your underwear; you never know when you'll have an accident.

• I brought you into this world and I can take you OUT !!
• I've got eyes in the back of my head!
• Get that out of your mouth!
• Don't stick that in your nose!
• Just you wait until you have kids of your own - then you'll understand.
• I slave for hours over a hot stove and this is the thanks I get?!
• Honestly... You'd lose your head if it wasn't screwed on!
• Bored! How can you be bored? I was never bored at your age.
• Who will end up walking, bathing and feeding it...?
• Eat everything on your plate and you will be in the clean plate club.
• You are going to pay for your raising!

I wish each and every Mother a Very Special Day!

May you all enjoy the special treatment you receive and may all of the "givers" find special delights in the joy of giving as you show that special someone how very much she means to you!

And enjoy a laugh or two as you read over the Mom-isms and say...."I remember when you use to say that!"
