Indian Lake is a gem of an area if you are looking for somewhere to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The entry to Indian Lakes is located off of FM 153 just a few miles outside of Smithville, approx. 45 minutes from Austin and an hour plus from San Antonio or Houston. The subdivision has a pool, park, fishing dock, boat ramp and a very relaxed atmosphere. There is a mixed bag of housing both site built and manufactured. There are properties on the water but they don't come on the market very often. Tahitian Village is a development just outside of Bastrop on Highway 71. The entry in to Tahitian Village is right at the Loop/95/21 light and is pretty well marked - Tahitian Drive. There are light restrictions in the subdivision and no mfg. homes are allowed. Most of the roads are paved and most of the lots have electric, water, sewer, and phone service to the lot lines. But some do not and most recently there have been some restrictions placed on the necessary size of lots to be developed with septic systems. If you are not looking for it the entry into Doty River Estates on Norma Jean Blvd you might pass right by it. Located just off of Highway 71 between Bastrop and Smithville Doty River Estates is a small rural subdivision nestled along the Colorado River. If you are driving out there and you pass La Cabana one of the great local restaurants you have missed it! The subdivision has paved roads, and is horse friendly. Thunderbird Lake is a subdivision built around a private community lake located approx. 8 miles outside of Smithville Texas. Highlights of this subdivision are the paved roads, lake access, community center, playground, pool. This is a perfect place for a summer vacation home as it has great access from the Austin, Houston, and San Antonio areas. There is even a convenience store right at the entry for those last minute items you might forget to pick up as you are heading home, or for some worms or hooks if you need some fishing supplies. River Crossing is a subdivision located between Austin and Bastrop in the Cedar Creek area. The entry is off of Old Hwy 71 which runs in a loop on the north side of Highway 71. River Crossing is a covenant protected community with site built homes and some building restrictions. If you are a horse enthusiast looking for a horse friendly community outside of Austin consider looking at this subdivision.
