C'est Magnifique!

12-20-10

Versailles is one of Greenwich's treasured restaurants....but it's more than that - It's a bakery, It's a pastry shop, It's a superb breakfast spot, It's a fantastic lunch place, and the new owners have expanded the menu to include dinner and wine.

When you start to feel nostalgic about your last trip to Paris, and rue du Bac seems an eternity away, just step into this lovely little reflection of Paris and be greeted by all of those delicious treats that one would normally find on rue du Bac; pastries, baguettes, cheeses, quiches, soupes, salades - classics with a twist.

339 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830

Charmingly, the news owners kept the front of the restaurant looking virtually the same as it did (only fresher) and have kept the delicious pastries, breads, breakfast and lunch. The bonus is that they are now serving dinner and offering wholesale patisseries.

What a lovely way to say thank you to your hostess, or to say thank you to your favorite clients?

River Oaks Town Homes in North Stamford, CT

12-15-10

The backdrop for our office party was a beautiful enclave of town home condos - centrally located off Long Ridge Rd in Stamford, CT. It was a great setting for the William Raveis Greenwich office party. Our VP, Beckie Hanley, along with another Raveis agent, scored the clubhouse, perfectly sized to produce an intimate, warm feeling that we can all appreciate. Lynette Clemens, the Greenwich office manager, also contributed as did quite a few other associates. Christmas brings out the best in people - you wish that life could always be this way.

River Oaks - 631 Long Ridge Rd. - Stamford, CT

And here is what Zillow has to say about River Oaks:

"Description

River Oaks - Stamford's premier gated new homes' community. Now when you buy a home in River Oaks, just mins from downtown Stamford, you get even more for your money! $200,000 off the already reduced base price ... peace of mind lnowing 90% of the homes are sold and occupied ... 3BRs, 3.1 baths, 2-c garage, Great Rm/fpl, dsgnr EIK+stunning formal DR, unfin basements too! Call or visit today!"

At the moment, there is a pending sale for a unit that is selling for approximately $1.4M - using this as a benchmark, considering the demand, I would surmise that they would vary slightly depending on adjacencies, options and size.

C'est la vie! and it could be yours as well...

He'll Light Up Greenwich Once Again!

12-03-10

We can all sleep, now that we know that Paul Tudor Jones is in the process of building the famous Christmas Display at his home in Belle Haven. All sarcasm aside, it has been spectacular display, and no doubt, with pressure from the community to continue the tradition that began in 2000 - it's lights, music and action - intricate moving elves, lights that "move to the music" and all quite amusing...

Jones is founder of Tudor Investments Corp and the New York City poverty-fighting Robin Hood Foundation and donated $35 million to his University of Virginia alma mater for its new basketball arena.

This from the Wall Street Journal reporting on last year's display:

Recipe for a Broken Deal

Recipe for a broken deal

INGREDIENTS ORDER OF MIXING IS IMPORTANT

  • Sole Owner
  • Husband of Owner
  • House
  • Agent
  • Illness
  • Family of owner's husband
  • 1 friend who has never visited the couple in their home until this week
  • Perspective tenant
  • Loud mouth husband of daughter

Combine together in one house, the owner and her husband with their idea of renting their cottage. Mix this with an agent who proceeds to market, suggest improvements and clean/spruce/prune to improve the potential.

Deflated sooufle, after deflated soufle, finally a tenant is ready to be annointed "the one"

FINISHING

Quickly whisk in illness, a stupid comment by a family member to the perspective tenant, together with inappropriate. lazy and short-sighted, distant family members and not so close "friend".

....and what to you get?

A big raspberry

Result - Poor taste, the wrong consistency, horrible presentation, it may even make you ill - and you certainly don't want seconds.

Next time - one chef, a sous chef, a hostess that brings a deserving and rewarded customer - and everyone walks away a winner.

P.S. Did you know that they say that bedbugs smell like rotten raspberries?
