Mark your calendars and clean up the bike we are having the 2nd Annual Ride For A Child Motorcycle Rally March 31, 2012. I am very excited to be a part of this event to raise funds to combat the battle against Child Abuse.
In the State of Texas, the Central Texas Area ranks #1 in reported child abuse cases. Death from child abuse also ranks near the top in Texas.
The Quad Cities Exchange Clubs of Copperas Cove, Temple, Gatesville and Killeen have joined forces with Bikers Against Child Abuse. To maximize fund raising abilities, we joined together for this event under RIDE FOR A CHILD a 5013c charity. All charitable donations will stay in Central Texas to help fund other organizations such as:
AWARE CENTRAL TEXAS, CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER OF CENTRAL TEXAS, CORYELL CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
The first annual rally was held March 26, 2011 and had over 250 riders and raised over $30,000 for Child Abuse Prevention in Bell and Coryell Counties.
This year's goal is 400+ riders. The rally will take you from registration and breakfast available, at the historic Ogletree Gap Park just off 190 west of Copperas Cove with a well marked route through beautiful winding hill country roads to Gatesville where we will stop at the 1st United Methodist Church, this location is hosted by the Gatesville Exchange Club who will provide coffee and homemade cookies and necessary break.
Back on to the beautiful back roads of Central Texas with wildflowers in bloom, and passing many family farms and ranches that date back to when Texans were still fighting at the Alamo. We will continue this journey across the scenic Lake Belton we will take you to Temple where our second pit stop is hosted by Don Ringler Chevrolet located on the East Access road. Don Ringler Chevrolet will provide snacks and drinks and lots of FUN.
Back on the road, we will head through Belton back to the Farm Market Rd. 439 to Sandy's Homeplace Historic Nightclub where we will have a BBQ Lunch, Live Music, and Dancing. We will have a 50/50 cash raffle, a silent auction, Motorcycle Judging and parts sales and more FUN!

Ft. Hood, Texas is the largest active duty armored post in the United States Armed Services. This legendary Army post prepares men and women- Mounted Warfare Soldiers to make a difference in the world. To honor these Soldiers, to tell their untold stories, the National Mounted Warfare foundation is building a world class, 21st century museum next to the gates of Ft. Hood. If you could imagine a place where you could make a personal connection to soldiers, and the community that supports them. A place that shares the untold stories of those soldiers using state of the art technology to create an interactive experience. A place that is partnered with local schools, universities and museums, a place that is friendly to families and children...This place will be the National Museum of Mounted Warfare and Soldier Center.
The National Museum of Mounted Warfare and Soldier Center has a projected capital cost of $130M. The proposed building will be between 80,000 and 100,000 square feet. The building will be located outside the main gate of Ft. Hood to ensure maximum accessibility by the public. The anticipated open date for the museum is third quarter 2019. There is a lot of work to be completed and there are many ways that we can help. It is expected that in the first year, we will have over 265,000 tourists. That is amazing for Ft. This year's PRCA event is set to begin thrilling spectators and fans on Thursday February 9 at 7:30 p.m., with pre-show activities beginning at 7 p.m. The rodeo is held every year in conjunction with the Bell County Youth Fair and all of the net proceeds from the rodeo go to the youth fair board to directly benefit the youth of Bell County. This year's event is sure to please with nightly events such as bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down and team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and the fan favorite bull riding. Rudy Burns, a 38 veteran rodeo clown is marked as one of the highlights, along with three time Announcer of the Year, Boyd Polhamus entertaining the crowd with his commentary throughout the events. Thursday night is Military Appreciation Night, worth a $2 discount with a valid military id. Get out your hats, boots and western attire!
