I am at a total loss. I've lived in Florida all my life and I have never seen anything like it. I went to list a condo yesterday (2 story) in the middle of the day and when I pulled up, I noticed at least 1000 white birds (looked like seagulls) on the top of the roof all facing in the same direction and many more flying in. At first I thought to myself, is someone feeding them, is there something dead nearby, do they raise birds here? And on second thought, am I going to get pooped on or could these birds be distant cousins of the hawk that like to dive down and peck at your head (as I look frantically for the phone booth to hide in..old movie reference which many of you may not remember)? Seriously, it happens. I listed a condo on a golf course once and they actually had to remove the nest as people were being bombarded and bloodied on the golf course. The stories are funny..I actually heard of one guy getting his toupee lifted. So the question is, what are these birds doing? Is this some sort of homing instinct..mating season...what? I asked the sellers about the birds and they said they are always there. Thank the LORD for that..at least if they are in plain sight I don't have to worry about disclosure...um, by the way buyer..do you have a fear of birds, bird flu, or it raining bird feces?? Anyway, I thought I would throw this out there and ask the community WTF..what the flock?

This weekend, like many sales agents, I was busy putting together a last minute open house for my new listing. As much as I hate to leave the kids during the weekend, I was very excited to get to know my sellers a bit more and also hoped to show off this great home to neighbors and let's face it, the kids break can be GREAT. Luckily, the morning had gone smooth and I was right on time to start putting out the newly painted signs I had crafted the evening before to attract attention. I spotted the perfect place for the OPEN HOUSE sign..right in the median between several lanes of traffic with excellent visual potential. Darn, there was no great place to park, this was going to call for some walking. No matter I had worn a dress and high heels that day because I am a trained professional ready to conquer the world. I walked a few blocks, ran out into the road and quickly began to stomp on the sign post to sink in the dirt. Ok, so the ground was hard..keep trying..why are my feet on fire?? Oh good lord, fire ants! OUCH OUCH OUCH, swat swat swat..still burning..how did they get all the way to my toes so fast? It is amazing how fast you forget everything else around you when you are in pain. I want to personally thank the truck full of men that honked on their way by as my dress flew up in the air with the wind and I was performing the "ants in your pants" dance because that was EXACTLY what I needed to make me feel pretty and bring me back to reality. Note to men: Honking or yelling HEEEYY at women when you drive by..not attractive! I walked back to my car, ready to cry, decided to call my husband hoping for a sympathic ear. Not so much. After the roaring laughter and him yelling back to the kids..guess what just happend to mommy, I realize, OK, it was a little funny..OK, that would have been hilarious if I was driving by some poor realtor. Lesson learned..remember not to take life so seriously as laughter can be the best medicine! Oh, and for anyone driving down Town Center Blvd on Saturday afternoon, I apologize for the Marilyn Monroe dress stunt.
