I have been working with Mrs. Buyer for a few weeks, she doesn’t live in the area but is moving to "The Treasure Coast" for her job. She lives about an hour and a half away so she came up on a Sat, as in 3 days ago (not a holiday weekend) to look at homes. After sorting though many listings in her price range, she had chosen her top 5, and we felt really good about all of them. I called 2 days in advanced to set up the appointments, and to my shock, 3 out of 5 were unable to show the home. I politely explained that it was an out of town buyer, and that she had to buy! No such luck, the door was closed in my face, mind you that none of these homes needed to be accompanied by a realtor - the owners simply couldn’t be inconvenienced on a weekend (REALLY)! So I went back to Mrs. Buyer and tried to explain that we couldn’t get in to see 3 of the homes she liked. She simply couldn't understand - why someone would be unwilling to show their home, given notice. I for once was at a loss of words, was this my fault? Should I have given more notice – a week? In this market - who says NO to a showing? So we went back to the drawing board and came up with 4 more properties (one extra, just in case), and would you believe that it happened again I had another one not able to show. SO can someone please explain to me - why a homeowner would put their home on the market if they don’t want to show it - to me this defies logic! Sorry for the rant... I had to get it out! This story does have a happy ending, one of the first five that she originally wanted to see, that was available to show (it was vacant!) she made an offer on! Hooray!
