Another beautiful home sold in Sonora place. I wrote about this lovely Baldwin County, Alabama home here and now it has new owners. Located on nearly an acre of beautiful, quiet level land, right next to the Fairhope Christmas Tree Farm, this home is gone and another may be under contract before the day is done.
I didn't think it would take too long to find new home owners for these, and turns out I was right! Yea!
There are lots of fun free things to do in Baldwin County. Let's say Saturday is coming, or the summer even, and you are at home with kids and just can't keep them corralled any longer. What can you do with them that would cost you no more than the gas to get there and back, and maybe a picnic?
1. Summer Fun at the Fairhope Public Library. You
really should check out the creative programs that
the Fairhope Public Library offers. I can't even imagine
how my spirit would have been filled with programs like
these when I was a child. How about this? Readers
Theatre - role playing, theatre games, storytelling. Oh
my. They have so many activities lined up. And they
are looking for Grand Readers, too, so if you're bored
yourself - volunteer.
2. The Fairhope Public Pier. The pier in Fairhope has been a gathering spot for so long, I take it for
granted that it will always be there. In addition to the pier, where you can watch the fishermen, or try your
hand at fishing yourself,
there are the beaches and parks to explore. There are playgrounds, the duck pond
(don't forget to bring the day old bread for the ducks,
and the geese, and the seagulls.) Take a walk
around the park loop and read the plaques with their
information about the trees living there. It's a nice
little walk and a great diversion.
3. Five Rivers Center. Where the Mobile, Blakeley, Appalachi, Tensaw and Spanish Rivers flow into
Mobile Bay. Really this is a wonderful addition to the Mobile River Delta. If you want to have an adventure
on the Delta, you can spend some money and rent a canoe or kayak or even take a Delta Safari. If not,
wander around the center, talk to the people there, look through their telescopes, visit their shops. It is
truly a great place to visit and maybe plan a grown up trip upriver for a later time.
4. Visit Blakely State Park. As a history buff, I enjoy visiting the site of the last battle of the civil war.
Take a picnic, and take one of the hiking trails for a nice walk through the forest. So peaceful and quiet, it
is now hard to imagine the horror of a battle being fought there. Tons of history to bring alive. They have a
delta tour, too, but it is planned in advance, so you can't just pick it up any day. Check the website for
specifics.
5. Take 'em to the beach. Gulf Shores is just a forty minute drive to the south, so why not take 'em to the
beach. Let them build sand castles and run from the waves. With its sugary fine, white sand, there isn't a
more beautiful place for a free day than the beach. Just don't forget the sunscreen!
There are so many other things to do, in Baldwin County that you can help yourself and your kids beat
the summer boredom by adding one different activity a week to their routines. And maybe as a side
benefit, teach them a little something about entertaining themselves and learning new things too!
Activity in the Fairhope Real Estate Market picked up some during the month of March, 2009. There were 92 new listings with an average list price of $272,658. Twenty-seven single family homes closed in March with an average selling price of $258,082.
Compared to February, when most people are more focused on the annual Mardi Gras celebration than home buying, when there were19 closed properties and 82 new listings, in the single family home category, March has sown an uptick in purchases.
All in all, things are looking up in the market here, and if you've been trying to wait out the market, you should probably be thinking about buying or selling now.
I have a glimpse or a few of Sehoy subdivision in Daphne, Alabama, as it was today. Today was a bit overcast, much like you would expect for a mid March Spring day in south Alabama, a bit blustery ahead of a cool front coming through that will bring a lovely dousing of rain, and perfectly temped for strolling about midday. Today was a perfect day. Today was just as perfect as the warm sunny yesterday. Oh Spring.
Sehoy subdivision has a lake for the owners to enjoy.
You can put your kayak (no motored boats of any kind) in and tool around, or fish - I've been told this lake is stocked - or you can walk down this little path here:
And just bask in the view above.
There are lovely homes here and some are lakefront, like this one:
And the lake view from the back deck of this home looks just like this:
And here it is from the breakfast area and keeping room just off the kitchen:
And the view from the master bedroom:
Sehoy is a truly beautiful place, with its trees and the lake, and the green, green grass of spring. And the homes are all lovely, any one of which you could call home.
I spent the day in Ottawa Springs, in Daphne again today and it was a beautiful spring day, just the kind of day you expect before the rains roll through. It was sunny and a bit breezy, perfectly cool morning, warm midday and cool again in the afternoon.
Normally we don't have that many visitors at the model home on Mondays, but today a perfectly lovely young couple, with their sweet daughter popped back in. They were here yesterday. They are looking to buy a new home and I just get the most wonderful feeling when I 'm working with young first time buyers. It's unexplainable really, but their joy and excitement, and their dreams of everything that is possible eeks out of them and into me. Lovely. Just lovely.
