Finally had a break from inspections, so I packed up the four kids and headed to Archbold, Ohio while my wife/secretary got caught up on office work.
My first impression was very high after first arriving at this beautiful park. My kids' impressions were apparently the same, because 2 out of the 4 already had their seatbelts off, before I even parked (the other 2 probably would have also, if they were able). First off, the facility is very, very large, with many open areas, including numerous soccer fields. There is also a sidewalk encompassing the entire area, which is great for joggers, walkers, bike riding, etc. In addition, there were even trails in the woods, to enjoy the wonders of nature and/or to get out of the hot sun for a bit.
The playground equipment is incredible, with nothing quite comparable in the Northwest Ohio area. There's three very tall, tube slides, which even satisfied my 10 year old, which is hard to do sometimes. Rock climbing walls, a little tikes area, and basketball courts, also add to the fun. The playground area's floor is a soft, composite padding which is also a very nice feature, especially for my 11 month old knees & hands, for crawling around. The kids also thoroughly enjoyed running up and down or rolling on the sledding hill.

If you haven't visited Woodland Park yet, I encourage you to take the family and enjoy everything it has to offer. It is truly a wonderful facility, well kept, and a great way to spend some time having fun, and best of all it's FREE.
It also poops out the kids to give Mom & Dad some peace & quiet for a bit :)

Just got back from our first time at this annual event. My wife & I both met many wonderful people, most of which play an important roll in the real estate transaction. There was great food, great company, and most importantly, great contacts for referral business. Special thanks to InterNACHI (InterNational Association of Certified Home Inspectors) for providing us booth accessories. Also a big congrats to the Realtors who took home cash by spinning our cash wheel - Laurie Merrilat & Chris Ricica, both of ReMax Realty of Defiance, Cindy Gustwiller of AmeraMade Realty in Bryan, and Larry Fillinger of Century 21 Strait Realty of Defiance.

Defiance, Ohio (a.k.a D-Town) is once again growing and proving, once again that it is, "A great place to live", if not the best.

I recently attended an open house/tour with my 9 year old son, Braden, and I was blown away, to say the least. The school's advanced technology and massive size is very, very impressive. This facility will surely provide the staff & resources to bring out the greatest potential in every child's future (including all 4 of mine!). Three of the four old elementary school buildings are already accounted for, including a Senior Center, Catholic School, & City Building.
This new, modern elementary school will surely provide yet another attractive lure for growth in our great city.

The new St. Rt. 24 construction is progressing quickly with many big changes apparent already. This new highway will bring a world of opportunity to many Northwest Ohio residences, including myself and my home inspection company. The biggest opportunity will be having a more efficient & quicker road to Toledo, OH, a major Ohio city, and Ft. Wayne, In, a major Indiana city. There will now be "big city opportunities" including jobs, entertainment, and sports, a quick drive away. No matter what business you're in, this is going to be a tremendous benefit to many, especially for the city of Defiance - right smack dab in the middle. Change is coming, how will you benefit?

Defiance City Reservoir
The reservoir is located along Canal Road on the west side of Defiance. This reservoir contains approximately 350,000,000 gallons of water with a total water surface area of 74 acres. Average depth of the reservoir is 18 feet. The perimeter of the upper bank of the reservoir is approximately 1.6 miles.

The Maumee River currently serves as the sole water supply for the City of Defiance. Water is pumped directly from the river to the treatment plant. Because of the susceptibility of the river to contamination from agricultural runoff, organic matter, and accidental chemical discharges, the City decided to construct an up-ground reservoir. This reservoir will provide a 90 day supply at average daily demand in the event water quality in the Maumee River should become a concern. During normal operation, the reservoir will act as a pretreatment basin to provide a more consistent water quality to the treatment plant. This reservoir will also allow maintenance to be performed on the river intake structures and associated equipment and pumps.

The City also owns additional ground adjacent to the reservoir. The entire site, including the reservoir is approximately 125 acres. A Reservoir Subcommittee has been form to investigate and recommend amenities to the new park area that will be established on the reservoir site. This group is largely comprised of local citizens and some City employees. Some civic groups have also expressed their interest in taking part. The group is looking at such things as shelter houses, walking trails, parking, boating, and other items to improve the reservoir site. If you, or your organization, are interested in becoming a part of this subcommittee, or if you have ideas or suggestions, contact Rob Cereghin, Service Director, at 419-784-2745.
