THE SUMMER LULL: A lot of volatility in the equity markets, but relatively light overall trading activity. This is due to the time of year (annual summer lull) added to the fact that investors may be waiting to see how the political conventions turn out over the next couple of weeks.....or perhaps many of the traders were too tired after staying up late to watch the Olympics. This past week, the domestic equity markets ended about where they started, down less than half a percent (both S&P 500 and Dow Jones down approximately 12% for the year).
Stocks are trading lower today on bad news from Fannie, Freddie, and Lehman Brothers, this is moving money into Bonds. This is good news for Delaware Mortgage Rates. Rates are a bit lower today. If you have a Delaware Mortgage Rate, I recommend floating your rate today as we may see more improvement.

The Stock market rallied today on news of oil falling back below $120 a barrel and on a speech by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. Bernanke said that inflation pressures are likely to moderate in the coming months. Mortgage Backed Securities dropped early in the day but recovered to finish above where they opened but still lower than they closed yesterday. Mortgage Backed Securities finished the week better than they started but were off the highs of Wednesday. Mortgage Backed Securities broke through the 50 day moving average this week for the first time in 3 months. Delaware Mortgage Rates were lower than yesterday but are still better overall. I recommended floating today into next week.
