The Morristown Rotary Club Board decided on August 10th to move forward with a plan to create an online presence for the club as a means of communication between members and to make the club more attractive to new members. The plan will include a club website, a club group on LinkedIn and a Facebook fan page among other internet savy activities. Today, the basic site is published on http://www.morristownrotarynow.com and more work will be done to promote the site and add more useful data. The plan will create a social media platform including at least this one Website and a pereiodic Newsletter for the Morristown Rotary Club with ongoing updates, blogs and events by administrator and members.

As a guest at last week's Rotary Meeting Jeff Branham, City Engineer, presented a program about the large power generator that the City Engineering Department along with Morristown Police and Emergency Management Team escorted through town last June.
Jeff Branham showed photos and described plans explaining the complex timeline and efforts by the City to ensure this extraordinary transport event made it through town without damaging anything. Rotarian, John Zierer photographed the event, and he took several photos that were shared during the presentation.
At more than 640 tons, the oversized transporter units were on a very special and fully engineered route through town and on to Dominio Power in St. Paul, Virginia. Crews from Appalachian Electric and Morristown Power moved alongside the caravan lifting lines on craines to make way for the equipment and transporters.
According to Jeff Branham, the city is preparing for seven more transport events similar to what we saw in June.
Introducing a New Group for Landlords and Property Managers: Lakeway Area Landlords Association
Dennis Wheeler, president of the Lakeway Area Landlords Association, explained that this LALA organization is a group of area Landlords who gather once a month at Century 21 in downtown Morristown to discuss the business they all share. It's a great way to keep abreast of the politics and the everchanging business of Rental Property Management in the area. Members provide each other with support and information about their day to day activities and policies and procedures.

While attending the University of Tennessee, Dena was a Rotary exchange student at the University of Fortaleza in Ceara Brazil and earned her degree from the University of Tennessee in Anthropology. After becoming a Rotarian herself, Dena hosted an exchange student from Brazil, Lucas Cunha who lived in Morristown for the school year and attended West High School. 
Whenever possible, Dena likes to travel and has many adventures exploring the world. A two week drive through the English Countryside AND a month seeing the sights, getting lost and eating in Italy are among her top favorites to talk about, and when she isn't travelling she spends what free time she can gardening and cooking what some consider gourmet meals. 
As a student of Anthropolgy, Dena studied about Many different cultures and Religions from around the world and throughout history. She has been a volunteer on numerous occaissions at the Holston Presbytery Camp in Banner Elk North Carolina, and she looks forward to a time when mission work can be a bigger part of her life. Religion and Spirituality remain the core of her inspiration and are a part of her daily routine. Dena and Anna are active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Morristown where Anna is a member of the Choir.
