Corona Summer Luau at Heritage Park- August 16th, 2008

Don't miss out on this years Isle of Corona's Summer Luau at Heritage Park. There you, family and friends will experience the traditional style luau with great exotic food (featuring a kalua pig, teriyaki chicken and lomi lomi salmon) drinks, and hot island entertainment.
This date also celebrates the time when Hawaii became a state in 1959.

Tickets on sale now: Tuesday - Saturdays, 10 am - 2 pm.

Discount pre-sale adult tickets are $45 each or $50 the day of the event if not sold out.
Ages twelve and under pre-sale are $30 each or $35 the day of the event.

*All proceeds will fund construction of new handicap access
to some of the more difficult areas of the park.*

Don't miss your chance to see some beautiful quilts still on display until September 7th, 2008 at The Riverside Museum.

These quilts are like fabric documents which record the stories of individuals, family and the community. These textiles are multi-layered and hold the history and cultural heritage of the past.

Also on display are “The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz” until September 14th, 2008. Exhibit materials are examples of Peanuts comic strips, Schulz quotes and photographs, Baseball memorable, bobble head dolls, banners,and an over-sized Snoopy doll decked out in his favorite team uniform.


Purple Ribbon Month in Corona- August, 2008

Throughout Corona, Purple ribbons are hung every August in memory of 6-month-old Kaitlyn Russell. In August 2000 Kaitlyn was left alone in her babysitter’s car for at least two hours while the sitter visited with friends.

Authorities estimated the temperature had reached 130 degrees in the locked car by the time the child was found.

Purple Ribbon month is sponsored by a nonprofit organization called, "4 R Kids’ Sake." This organization was established by Kaitlyn Russels family in effort to educate the public of the danger of leaving children unattended in an vehicle.

In 2001, The California State Legislature, passed "Kaitlyn's Law," also known as the “Unattended Child in a Motor Vehicle Act.” It is illegal for any child younger than 6 to be left in an automobile without the supervision of an individual 12 years of age or older. Violations can result in a $100 fine. For more information call:

4th of July Festival & Fireworks display at Santana Park huge Success!

The City of Corona’s NEW LOCATION for 4th of July Festival & Fireworks display at Santana Park
was a huge success. There were games, Balloon slides, a rock climbing wall, a bucking bull rodeo
ride, live music and plenty of food.


There were also huge big screen monitors placed in several locations in the park to view The
parks live band entertainment and military tribute to our nations hero's.

The park was beaming with excitement while families spent a fun filled day together honoring
the United States of America 232nd Birthday!

It was officially announced later in the evening by Mayor Jeff Miller that all future celebrations
will continue to be held at Santana Park. The fireworks display was simply spectacular!

City officials and all who participated and gave of their time & hard work into making this
4th of July Celebration one of Corona’s Best!
