10 TIPS To Take Today To Thrust Into a Tremendous Future :)

Hello RainMakers!

I came across this information online and thought the advice was good. So, I decided to share it with you.

Many of us have alot of things that we're trying to get done in 2009. Here are just a few reminders of how to make your 2009 a year of great accomplishment!

Enjoy!

In light of the shaky start we've all had so far in 2009 due to the economic downturn it is all the more important to stay on track to achieve your goals. In times such as these the importance of setting goals is all the more important. Whether it's budgeting your dollars, looking for a job, or maybe start a business you are going to need lots of personal discipline.

The dubious news associated with global economics, layoffs, rising costs, and government 'bailouts' is enough to distract and discourage anyone. Realizing the challenges your goals may face in 2009 there are certain success strategies you'll need to adopt to realize these goals.

Here are 10 tips that should help you weather the turbulence this year and reach your goals:

STOP PROCRASTINATING

There seems to be little reason to setting goals if you continue to put them off to another day. With each delay you are putting off your chances of achieving success for any personal or business goals you may have set.

Overcoming this nasty habit if it continues to occur should be a goal itself for your own personal development.

ENOUGH with the EXCUSES

Consider how much thought and energy goes into creating those excuses you give yourself for not accomplishing something. Now take that energy and those creative 'juices' and put them to work towards reaching your goals.

UNPLUG the 'BOOB TUBE'

If you have goals you haven't accomplished then ask yourself what you're doing watching TV. Does anything good come out of watching the tube? If it relaxes you consider how much more relaxed you'd be if you accomplished something productive. Oh no, don't tell me you're catching up on the news! Being a big fan of the news channels (I love CNN) I have come to find that all the negative news zaps my energy level and alters my mood.

SEIZE the DAY

Learn to deal with the objectives of each day separately. Yesterday is gone and all that's left of it is any lessons earned. Appreciate and celebrate your accomplishments as they occur and then move forward. At the core of your own personal development is realizing you can't change the past and the best way to prepare for the future is to address the present. By setting goals daily you're directing your actions in a more positive and purposeful direction.

FOCUS

As we spoke of earlier distractions are all about us and especially in today's climate. By focusing on those things over which we do have control is the best way to alter our present and future. Maintaining focus on your goals is the ONLY way to reach them!

MAKE TIME for YOU

It is important to maintain a healthy balance between the pursuit of any business goals and those of a more personal nature. Family, friends, and any other personal interest should be allotted a fair amount of your time and focus on a REGULAR basis. Give yourself the chance to unwind and recharge!

YOUR BODY is YOUR TEMPLE

The saying without your health you have nothing is so true. It is your responsibility to maintain a healthy body. Good eating habits and regular exercise will pay you dividends in both your personal life and business ventures. Remember that bad health does not always give you a second chance.

VISUALIZE your SUCCESS

"If you think you can you will" however "if you think you can't you're right" therefore your success starts out within your own mind. Believe in yourself and know achieving success at whatever it is you are pursuing is your right and the likely outcome of your efforts.

BE THANKFUL for the GOOD

"Into every life a little rain will fall" is a statement of fact. Realizing this will make it easier to deal with outcomes that aren't what you expected or preferred. Identify and focus on the good and give thanks for it. It will give you a more positive outlook, a healthier mindset, and the energy needed to constructively move forward.

BE OPPORTUNISTIC

As the saying goes "if it was easy anybody could do it" and remember all this means is that most people will avoid challenges. It is just human nature to do so. With a little thought, planning and perseverance however you can convert these challenges into tremendous opportunities and with limited competition.

By following the 10 aforementioned success strategies reviewed above you will be greatly enhancing your ability to achieve your goals for the year. Just continually remind yourself to tune out the distractions and maintain your focus on your immediate goals. By doing so and maintaining a mentally and physically healthy you will likely end in the results you want!

Old Employee Benefits Package Gets A FACELIFT

Ezine Article by Denise R. McCoy

Employers have it tough these days. In the everchanging world of employee relations, how can you be sure that your employees are truly happy with you as an employer? Are you gauging their happiness by using the traditioanl checks and balances?

Do they show up everyday?--check! Are they well groomed?--check! Do they report to work on time?--check! Have they told you how much they appreciate their job? During the last employee review, was it an improvement from the previous 6 to 12 months, or has there been a change in their performance?

Well, let's hope this article: New Housing Employee Benefits: Building Moral, Retaining Employees & Recruiting Top Talent can help shed some light on a traditional subject with an innovative spin.

Remember the game, Family Feud? During the 30 minute game show families from all over the United States would compete for a chance to win $10,000.00 by guessing what America thought about certain topics. The questions would go something like this....

"Name something found in your mother's purse?" "This is something you might consume after you eat a spicy meal." "Name something a teenage girl looks forward to?" Truly, there was never a wrong or right answer. The only answer was YOUR answer.

Imagine you invited me to visit with you this afternoon. Let's say, I stopped by during the lunch hour. The purpose of my visit is to help you gain a better understanding of how your employees see YOU as their employer. The core focus of my discussion is your current benefits package. I might ask your employees, "How would you rate your employers' benefits package? How do the benefits offered match up to the needs of your family? Are there any benefits not being offered that you would like to see offered?

Again, this is a hypothetical scenario. By walking you through the exercise, I'm sure your wheels started to turn. You began to think like the employee for just a moment. Employee relations is just that--relating to your employees.

Traditionally, 401(k), medical, dental and vision benefits were the norm for any job. However, alot has changed. Employees are looking for a benefits package that is tangible with the ability to build long term stability and growth. Although the same old benefits program is still widely received by most employees, offering an innovative alternative could change the landscape of your business model tremendously.

The National Association of Realtors is the largest trade organization in the world. To date they have over 1 million Realtor members. They are the "Voice of Real Estate". The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® was founded as the National Association of Real Estate Exchanges on May 12, 1908, at the YMCA Auditorium in Chicago, IL. Their code of ethics was adopted in 1913, as the "Golden Rule." Visit www.Realtor.org. After 101 years in existence, NAR remains the most trusted name in Real Estate.

Recently, the National Association of Realtors made history during the launch of one of the most innovative employer assisted housing benefits program (EAH), known as Home from Work. The program encourages employers to help their valued employees realize their dream of home ownership by assisting them with the purchase process.

To help get the word out about the program, Realtors are trained by Certified Trainer/Instructors in the benefits of the Home from Work program. They are shown how to introduce the concept to their local associations, non-profit housing agencies and employers. As you can imagine, Realtors are more than just agents. Many consumers see real estate professionals as housing advocates. The Home from Work program allows Realtors the opportunity to become leaders in their community with the power and ability to effect positive change.

Employers may wonder how they may benefit by offering such a program. There are three key benefits of the Home from Work Employer Assisted Housing Benefits Program:
*On-site home buyer education workshops conducted by Realtors and lenders
*On-one-one counseling administered by a non-profit housing agency
*Financial incentive (matched savings, grant, deferred loan.

Traditionally, potential homeowners face 3 hurdles. Lack of information, lack of confidence and lack of funds are barriers to homeownership. It's only fitting that the 3 benefits of the HFW programs, cancel out these barriers.

Employers like Kaiser, Agilent, National Bank of Redwoods, Novato Hospital and the North Main Water District have developed a successful EAH benefits campaign and so can you. Housing benefits help build moral, retain employees and adds a new flavor to your recruitment efforts. Not only that, employers that are proactive in building good employee/employer relations are seen as leaders on the cutting edge of what's new and what's next for their respective industries.

Still not convinced your employees would respond favorably to such a program? I would encourage you to devote 5 minutes of your time by asking them. Not sure how to do that? Email a request for the "Employee Homeownership Survey", to TheHonestSpeaker@gmail.com.

The survey only takes 4 minutes to complete. You will be amazed at the responses and well on your way to becoming a better employer.

Home From Work TM

Homeownership is out of reach for a large portion of the workforce. Teachers, emergency personnel, retail clerks, hospitality staff and office employees often cannot afford to live near their places of work or are uninformed about the range of homeownership options available to them. In addition, some businesses face recruitment and retention challenges including high turnover rates, labor shortages and chronic absenteeism.

The Home From WorkTM program encourages and promotes employer-assisted housing (EAH) which is housing benefits employers can offer to help strengthen their employees' potential to purchase their own homes. EAH strengthens communities and empowers its workforce.

The Home From WorkTM program encourages state and local REALTOR® Associations and REALTORS® to become advocates for expanding housing opportunities.

The main focus of the Home From WorkTM program is the Home From WorkTM class which provides information and tools so REALTORS® can reach out to local employers to help them establish employer-assisted housing benefit programs.

I've been affected by the swine flu!

Well, I've been affected by the swine flu! After months and months of planning this superbug has officially snuffed out my chances of experiencing a relaxing vacation to the Baja Penisula. I told a colleague, although I want to go on the cruise...I don't want it to be my last cruise. I have a 9 year old.

I was set to sail within 11 days! To be honest, I was really thinking that if I went, I would be fine. I tossed and turned last night for about 2 hours before I finally fell asleep. The swine flu issue had me restless. The travel coordinator for the cruise/fundraiser tried to calm my nerves, but it just wouldn't work.

Believe it or not, I even consulted God about the issue. Some people would say, "Denise, now that's a no-brainer. Don't go!". But of course, I was thinking about the money factor instead of the safety factor.

My heart goes out to the people who are sick and even those that have died as a result of the outbreak. This issue has hit close to home and I simply encourage you to be cautious and pray alot.

It's interesting to see how different organizations respond to health risks like this one. But, I must say that a "certain cruise line" was extremely helpful, understanding and accomodating. Although they couldn't guarantee me a refund yesterday morning. I spoke to a representative just this morning and my refund is on the way.

So, what will I do now? I've a good chunk of change coming back and no where to go for the next two weeks.

If you have any suggestions for me...post them here. I would love to hear your thoughts.
