HEY PIRATES!!! - - WHY RENT WHEN YOU CAN BUY!
Greenville, NC - ECU - Students - Thats the question of the day! Renters beware! Why get charged $400-600 per bedroom when you can easily purchase (with or without assistance from your parents) and have EQUITY and TAX BREAKS at the same time. Greenville NC is full of student housing and apartments, there is no doubt about that. However, the University Area has several affordable options in condos, town homes and single family residences that can be purchased and lived in while in college. Think of it as an investment! Why throw your hard earned money into a rental and have nothing to show for it at the end. Also, you may be elegible for the $8,000 TAX CREDIT for first time homebuyers (YES - a CREDIT). Again, with rates so low and a plethora of options, NOW is the Time to BUY!

Prescription Drugs - Can't Afford the Drugs You Can't Live Without?
A Pitt County program is offering some help!
The Pitt County Council on Aging is working to identify and assist seniors with limited incomes in applying for the Low Income Subsidy and/or NCRx to help with prescription drug expenses.
Anyone on Medicare can get Medicare prescription drug coverage; those with limited income and resources may also be eligible for Extra Help to pay for Medicare prescription drug plan premiums, annual deductibles, and prescription co-payments. Extra Help is estimated to be worth an average of $3,900 per year, and many people are unaware they qualify.
Anyone on Medicare who has full Medicaid coverage, whose Medicare Part B premium is paid by the state, or who receives SSI benefits is automatically qualified for Extra Help and does not need to complete an application.
Those who do not qualify for the full federal "Extra Help" subsidy may qualify for North Carolina's NCRx Program. The program provides up to $29 per month toward the monthly premium of a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan that participates in NCRx. Staff at the Pitt County Council on Aging can assist with NCRx applications in addition to assisting with applications for Extra Help. Call 752-1717, ext. 10 for more information or to file an application.

Arrrrrggh. GO Pirates! 32 Days Until Kickoff!
Only one week remains for East Carolina fans to purchase football season tickets for the 2009 campaign, and with less than 800 available, the Pirates are again nearing the opportunity to play in front of full-capacity crowds at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium this fall.
ARE YOU AN ECU FAN? COME TAILGATE WITH US!

The ECU Athletics Ticket Office will continue to sell all season ticket packages until a 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 7 deadline. Earlier this summer, ECU announced that there are no individual tickets available for the Pirates' season opener against Appalachian State Sept. 5 and now likely face a similar situation for the Virginia Tech contest Nov. 5.
In addition to the matchups with the Mountaineers and Hokies, popular designated games against UCF (Family Weekend) and Rice (Homecoming) will also be anticipated sell-outs which would require a season ticket as the only guaranteed means of admission.
Tickets : www.ECUPirates.com or by calling the Ticket Office at 1-800-DIAL-ECU.
