Stagers, Decorators & Designers: Help Dulux Paint Support a Very Worthwhile Cause While Adding to Your Company's Branding

Dulux Paint is "selling" 16,777,216 different coloured computer pixels. The proceeds will go to UNICEF to benefit some of the most vulnerable children around the world.

Choose your own colour and if it hasn't been bought already, you get to name it as well. For as little as £1 (approx. $2 Canadian / $2 U.S.) you will "own a colour" and help needy children receive the healthcare, clean water and education that they deserve. Not only are you helping out the kids, but it's also a creative way to brand your company through colour.

The logo for my company, Dezigner Digz has lime green in it (one of my favourite colours), so I decided to choose a colour within that spectrum. I've named my colour 'Limendipity'. Serendipity means good fortune and good karma, so I decided what better name to use for such a good cause and of course, I had to throw the word 'lime' in there too for good measure :-). So without further ado, let me introduce you to Dezigner Digz's colour: Limendipity - colour #cdf12c.

Dulux's mission is to "Add colour to people's lives". Their goal in this initiative is to "show how colour can make this a better place." For information on how you can join this great cause, check it out here: Dulux Own A Colour.

Of course you don't have to be a Stager, Decorator or Designer to be a part of the initiative. So what colour will you choose? If you decide to participate, show everyone below in the comments section what colour you've selected and the name you've given it.

HGTV's Matthew Finlason - His Latest Group of Advanced Home Stager Graduates - Toronto

I'm excited to share with everyone that I'm part of the latest group of graduates from Matthew Finlason's Intensive 2-Day Advanced Design & Marketing Course for Home Stagers. Matthew brought his bag of tricks and a wealth of information to Toronto recently. I was thrilled to be one of the few in attendance. The course is kept to a minimum number of students to allow for special attention to each participant's needs.

Ready to bring my business to the next level, I've already started implementing some of what I've learned to make Dezigner Digz something truly special.

I love to share and write about what I learn in this industry, but not this time. All I'll share with you is the advice that you should take Matthew's course for yourself. There's no way I could possibly come close to summarizing what I've learned. Besides, it wouldn't be the same when not delivered by the man himself.

Matthew's next course is taking place in Atlanta on November 12 and 13. If you live anywhere need "A Town", don't miss it! You won't be sorry. You can find all of the details here : Intensive 2 Day Advanced Design & Marketing Course for Home Stagers

And look at my new shiny graduate's logo :-)

Thinking of bringing your business to the next level? Think no more - just do it. Sign up soon before space runs out.

Solving a Staging Dilemma - My Latest REALTOR® Magazine Article

Staging with sectional sofas can sometimes be a challenge, particularly if each section doesn't have finished edges. What if you're dealing with a limited budget and that's all you have to work with?

Read my latest REALTOR® Magazine article How 2 Use a Sectional Sofa to Solve a Staging Dilemma on a Limited Budget to see what we've done with sectionals on a couple of our staging projects.

The property shown in the photos above sold in 6 days. The fact that we were able to change the furniture layout and create a bonus room out of 'bits and pieces' of the sofa helped to move this property quickly.

In fact, here's what the Realtor® had to say:

"We've had nothing but rave reviews!! You did an absolutely amazing job and still managed to use the client's furnishings that were extremely difficult to integrate into the design plan. You are truly a master of your craft! Big kudos to you!"

If you're serious about selling your home, but have a limited budget, don't let that scare you from calling in a professional Home Stager. You'll be surprised at what can be done, even with a limited budget, to help transform your home.

Helping SomeBUNNY Else at Easter: A Warm & Fuzzy Feeling

Look at this little guy. How could you not love him? Did you know that thousands of bunny rabbits are purchased every year by parents as Easter "presents" for their children; only to be dropped off at shelters or abandoned outdoors to fend for themselves once the novelty wears off? I didn't realize the extent of this problem until I read a recent article in the Toronto Star.

Bunny rabbits require as much love and care as any other family pet. As well, they do like to chew. This isn't something they outgrow like a puppy will. Many people also don't realize that rabbits must be spayed or neutered which is an additional cost that they don't take into account when they buy one - another reason why they abandon them.

However, if you are prepared for the long-term committment of a pet bunny rabbit, why not adopt one from your local animal shelter or bunny rescue rather than buy one through a pet store or breeder. There are SO many bunnies at shelters looking for loving, forever homes.

This winter, we had a pair of wild bunnies take up residence in our backyard and although they've been eating our plants; I can't help but love them. (I did put out carrots for them, but apparently wild bunnies don't like their veggies.) The other day they were chasing each other around our backyard - so cute! In fact, they are starting to get used to us coming outside to see them; they aren't even afraid of us anymore.

Building this little "bond" with my new backyard friends has made me a little more sensitive to this issue. Am I prepared to adopt a pet bunny? Well, as much as I love them, I don't think they are the right house pet for me. So what am I going to do to help? This year, instead of buying Easter presents for everyone, our family is going to take that money and donate it to a bunny rescue. An Easter gift that will give us all a warm and fuzzy feeling. Our kids are grown up and since we aren't expecting grandchildren any time soon, no one will miss not having an Easter egg hunt.

I wanted to do something to make a difference, albeit a small one. Mind you, if other families take my lead and do the same, it will be well worth the time it took to write this post. I found a rescue located about 30 minutes away in Milton, Ontario called The Bunny Rescue, so I'll be sending them a cheque from all of us. They also have the option of sponsoring a bunny rather than making a donation. They will send you a photograph of the little guy that you helped out. Now wouldn't that make a cool gift for your kids! An Easter present they'll always remember. And, if your kids really want a bunny of their own for Easter, there's always the chocolate or stuffed toy variety :-)

Happy Easter everyone!
