Plano ISD Celebrates Dr Martin Luther King

On Thursday January 24th, 2008 Plano students and community leaders will present "Let Freedom Sing" this years annual tribute to Dr Martin Luther King. 

Highlights will include student speeches, a salute to the military services, the parade of nations, a showcase of student art work, presentation of the diversity leadership awards, and performances by student and community music ensembles.

Whiffletree is an established sought after neighborhood in central Plano. It is located off Legacy with easy access to I-75 or Dallas North Tollway. These custom homes range from 3400-4336 square feet with the average being 3900 square feet.

The Hills at Prestonwood 4th Quarter

The Hills at Prestonwood is a fabulous neighborhood with much to offer. Many homes back to the prestigious golf course or a wooded creek. It is conveniently located close to the Dallas North Tollway and Plano Presbyterian Hospital and situated between Parker, Midway and Plano Parkway.

The following is fourth quarter 2007 statistics. (also includes Indian Creek)

Rates Have Dropped

 Mortgage rates are at a two-year low.   If you finance your home while rates are low, you can save hundreds of dollars a year (or more), according to Freddie Mac's January 10, 2008 Primary Mortgage Market Survey:   The average principal and interest payment on a $250,000 loan has dropped by $131.83 per month since August 3, 2007.

 

And, there's more good news from the PMM Survey:

  • The 30-year fixed rate mortgage averaged 5.87% with 0.4 points
  • The 15-year fixed rate mortgage averaged 5.43% with 0.5 points
  • The 5/1 ARM averaged 5.63% with 0.5 points
  • The 1-year ARM averaged 5.37% with 0.6 points

There is a new web site available for current and future homeowners in Plano. This site was developed by the Plano Planning Department, and is the Plano Home Smart Knowledgebase. There are three main categories - Funding Sources, Energy Efficiency, and Recycling & Sustainability.

Funding Sources includes information and links for buying a home, making home improvements, energy star, tax credits/incentives, and local and state income assistance.

Energy Efficiency reveals low cost and no cost ways to energy efficiency, and facts and articles on energy efficiency.

Recycling and Sustainability shows the cities commitement to recycling and going green. It also gives insight to our water conservation efforts.
