As the holidays are fast approaching, I begin sending out cards to all all my sphere, clients new and old and family. In years past I would have a preprinted card with my picture and a holiday scene along with my information. Occasionally, I would get a response back returning me the holiday blessings. This year I decided to do something different and a bit more personal.
I ordered my cards with a holiday theme, put my picture on it with a small holiday wish. On the back I added a handwritten personal note and signed it in an effort to communicate personally with each person I know. The response has been triple the amount from the past. I have had clients and leads respond back to me after going months without the slightest word. They have written, emailed and even called just to tell me thank you for the card, telling me thank you for thinking of them and sending a personal note.
It seems that with all the technology and convenieces in today's world, we sometimes forget that people like and need to be thought of personally. In real estate an occassional personal touch has much more impact than 3 months of weekly emails. Now don't get me wrong. The emails are important if you want that person to remember you as the professional when it comes time to doing business, but if they are riding the fence between you or another Realtor, your personal touch will be remembered and just may put you in the forefront.
Now on a personal note, for all of you who I don't know or haven't had the pleasure of sending a card to below is my holiday wish to all of you.
Ferndale, WA
Recent numbers from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service show a slight increase in real estate sales from September. Last month 18 homes sold in the Ferndale region making it two months in a row with positive numbers. For the month of October, there are currently 8 homes sold and 10 homes pending sale, which would match last months totals. There is however 3 pending sales for vacant land in the Ferndale area which saw no activity at all last month. Keep in mind there are still 4 days left in the month, but we seem to be seeing an increase in sales in what many consider the slower months of the year. Since August we have seen a market that is selling homes while the inventory is shrinking. This would be positive news for home sellers who still have a home listed as this also brings higher demand. With homes sales starting to rise across the nation and interest rates being low, it looks like the bottom has been reached and the market has nowhere to go but up. Add to this scenario an election looming in just nine days, we could be looking brighter days ahead. Only time will tell.
