If you haven't had the opportunity to drive by the Bayview Library on Kinnickinnic, I would highly recommend you take a trip over there. The building itself is worth the trip, but once inside the materials and resources make the trip well worth it. A birght and airy environment flooded with light was created by the creative use of glass. Anyone appreciating modern architecture will be in awe of this building.
The Bayview Library, which replaced the Llewellyn Library, was opened in October of 1993. Sadly, I didn't come across the building until a few years ago, and at that time I still thought the building was ahead of it's time. The library is approximately 15,000 sq feet of fiction, non-fiction, reference materials, computers, story time, conference rooms and more. This was a tremendous expansion from the form 632 sq ft of the Llewellyn.
The developers of this project obviously saw the future growth of the Bayview area that we are now experiencing. Bayview has become a hotspot for first-time buyers, small shops and boutiques, families and many more people looking for affordable living close to the lake and also Downtown.
I would highly recommend getting over to the library, check out the architecture and maybe even check out a few classics or new books you were looking for.
