This little cutie is just wondering, "What is everyone looking at?"

"Is it my pink helmet or are my sunglasses crooked?"

Parked at a truck stop near Gretna, Nebraska, this morning, this little gal is waiting patiently for her owner to return from the gas station/store/restaurant.

She drew quite a crowd, most with their cameras flashing.

It is a nice cool morning, perfect for a ride!

The Gretna Days events are filled with tons of fun!

The fireworks on Friday evening lasted for over 40 minutes! It was a fantastic fireworks show!

One of the best fireworks shows we have ever seen.

We had front row seats across the highway from the show.

Good company, good family, good fun.

When you are going to spend any time with this man you plan to laugh 'til your side hurts. He's the funniest guy and keeps the straightest face. Which makes his life stories even funnier.

One time he fell asleep on his little fishin boat. It was early in the morning and he felt the boat rock. He opened his eyes to find himself face to face with a rather large sea gull. Have you ever heard a sea gull scream? DeerSlinger has. Well he thinks he heard it~over his own screaming.

We always look forward to our families spending time together. Always on the fourth of July. We grill, we laugh, we share, we watch fireworks, we hug, we go home. I look forward to many more July Fourths with our friends, the Slingers.

By the way, his name is Bob. We just call him DeerSlinger, because he is known for hunting deer with bow and arrow and slinging them over his shoulder. He is a good cook too. He does a lot of catch and release. But he likes to cook and share. We like that too.

I want to thank DeerSlinger for making hundreds of fishing flies for me to pass out to agents as I network at conventions, and now on ActiveRain.

They are good for little fish like sunfish and crappie.

Notice the detail of each one. Little eyes and some have dots on their sides. A lot of time and attention have gone into creating these little handmade guys.

Grandma said, "Enjoy them while they are young, they grow so fast,"

and, "These are the best years of your life."

She cautioned, "Pick your battles, let the small stuff go."

Then she pleaded, "Just get along."

So much of the advice she gave while I hardly listened.

Now I am saying those words to others.

I wonder if they are listening.

A puppy? A firetruck? Daddy coming home?

What caused you to pause and took your thoughts so far away?

Can you remember now, what you saw then?

Will you remember because a photo has recorded the moment?
