Home Values Decline

The Mercury News reported on Friday April 4th , many homeowners here in Santa Clara County will be receiving a notice in the mail that their property tax payments will go down. The assessed value will go down in some of these neighborhoods due to the mortgage meltdown we've been experiencing around the country. The article stated that approximately 41,231 homeowners will receive one of these notices.

The schools districts will be hit the hardest. Campbell Union School District had 5,793 homes totaling $389,418,860 decline in assessed value. The estimated decline in taxes for the Campbell Union School District is $4,673,026 with an average of $807 per property.

If you purchased your home between 2005 and 2007 its possible you are paying too much for property taxes and you can have your assessment lowered.

If you disagree with the assessed value of your property contact the Office of the Assessor (408) 299-5500. They can provide you with information on how the value was established. If you still disagree contact the Assessment Appeals Board to appeal your property tax assessment.

My First Attempt at Posting a Video

We held our 2007  Citizen of the year last Saturday night.  See the original post below.  Ann Height agreed to video the event on my digital camera.  It shut off three times during the skit.  I was able to edit the three clips into one.  I hope you enjoy the fun...

My first attempt a posting a moving on youtube.

If you Like Ducks, Dogs and Kids…

Two years ago we took the grandkids to Vasona Park in Los Gatos, CA. We are fortunate; this park is only 10 minutes away from where we live. I accepted the task of watching the kids every-other Saturday. It has been wonderful. Had we not made this arrangement (my daughter works a couple Saturday’s a month) we wouldn’t have the opportunity to spend so much time with them. I get to be the fun grandma. We do arts and crafts, cook, and go on what I call “field trips”. I loved going on field trips in school when I was a kid. I make sure they get good old fashion home cooking and I teach them manners which I find lacking in most children these days. This is one of my favorite videos I’ve made. It’s so peaceful. Listening to the ducks hit the water is soothing... It’s so peaceful. Listening to the ducks hit the water for some reason very soothing...
