PLEASE STAY OFF THE TRACKS! - AUSTIN, TEXAS - HIGH SPEED TRAINS

Capital MetroRail is now testing their new high speed with passenger service for Central Texas to start hopefully soon. Freight trains run much slower, nosier, and not as often as the new high speed. Please watch out as these sleeker, faster trains travel through your neighborhoods and past your schools.

When driving and approaching the tracks please take caution and don't ever stop your car on the tracks when stopped at a red light near the train tracks. Be especially careful turning across the train tracks. Please do not drive around the crossing gates. Don't walk or play on the tracks. Never under any circumstances race a train to a crossing - a deadly risk!

CANYON CREEK ELEMENTARY BIRTHDAY BOOK PROGRAM - RRISD - NW AUSTIN

school

Canyon Creek Elementary offers a great opportunity to celebrate a child's birthday, and, help the school library by placing a book of quality library binding in a collection that has high utilization and a large rate of circulation. A book can be purchased with a selection being made by the parent or child. A dedication will be placed in the front of the book and presented in the classroom to the child. What a great way to make a child feel special and every child who checks the book out will see the dedication in honor of the child's birthday!

It is important to purchase books that have library binding rather than trade bindings like books purchased at local stores. Continuous handling by loving hands need strong binding such as found in the library bindings.

Students living in Canyon Creek attend this exemplary elementary school. Sharon Whisnand, the school librarian, is responsible for making this and many other programs such a success.
