April 8, 2009 Sandbridge Beach - my morning view! I love the smell of the morning ocean air and the sound of the ocean.

Today is my birthday and a few of my Active Rain friends too! And as Brad Carroll says - all the cool kids have a birthday today - April 3rd!

Me and my twin sister are 32 today!

I wanted to congratulate my dad for his teaching award he just received UNMC College of Medicine Class of 1962 Basic Science Outstanding Teacher Award for the 2nd time.

He won this outstanding award because not only is he a great teacher but the relationships he creates with all of his students. I remember growing up he would literally take the photos of all of the students (which was hundreds of them) and use them like flash cards to remember who each and every one of them were.

Here is a picture of my dad ( Dr Cornish). He is the one on the right with the award.

Go ahead...ask me what my dad does. I have NO IDEA. All I know he is a Cardiovascular Physiologist. (something to do with the heart)

But I am glad for the difference my dad has made as a teacher. If he didn't care about his students would he really take the time to learn all of their names?

I wonder if you could remember all of your clients names?

That's right! What is the definition of a first time homebuyer according to VHDA?

Eligible borrowers can not have owned a home for the previous three years.

Same goes with receiving the $8,000 first time homeowner tax credit. You can apply for and receive as long as you have not owned a primary residence within the past 3 years.

That means even though you may have owned a home before you are eligible to apply for the "First Time Homebuyer" program AND receive the "First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit"

Have you seen the Dateline Show To Catch A Predator with Chris Hansen? It is so scary to watch at all of these guys prey on young teens. I am grateful for the show and how much they prevented what could have happened.

Being a mom to 2 young boys it is a scary world out there and luckily there is public information out there available with Megan's Law where sex offenders must register. It is almost too scary to put my address in to see who my neighbors might be.

I know that it would make me be alot more cautious if I had a neighbor next door to allow my 4 yr old to play outside on his own.
