I miss the days when a sports figure could truly be a "role model" for our youth.
Now we have entered a new era, with a new type of role model for our youth -
Do what ever you want, if it's wrong try not to get caught,
if you get caught, do and say everything they want you
to say and do, because you can still earn those big bucks.
To me it would have been good for Michael Vick to have at least been out of jail and off probation one year before being signed on to the Eagles team or any team. That way there would have been time to see what changes really have occurred within this man.
I struggle greatly with the fact that the bottom line "winning" will put blinders on peoples' minds and hearts about the horrible deeds one person did a short while ago (without batting an eye) and just because a person has served their time after getting caught, makes things right.
Forgiveness...yes....but has he really changed and does he really feel he did wrong? Only his actions over time will speak the truth.

ROSE TREE MEDIA PARK, MEDIA, PENNSYLVANIA (Delaware County)
1671 N. Providence Road (Route 252 & Rose Tree Road)
Media, PA 19063
(610)565-7410
Rose Tree Park is a place where one can walk, recycle, plant a garden, enjoy free
concerts in the summer and think of peace on earth while looking at the decorative lights offered during the winter holiday season.
One of the treats of summer is being able to go to a free concert in Rose Tree Park. Situated under the
sky, and then stars after nightfall one can enjoy live entertainment from many area performers. Bands and dance troupes do their thing on the stage of the outdoor amphitheater while entertaining people as they sit in their lawn chairs or on blankets on the grass terraces in front of the stage. Some people make a real outing with these concerts by bringing dinner, then enjoying a show. Other people make it a place to gather with friends and family members. It can be a destination for a date, or it can provide a comfortable environment for those lone lovers of live entertainment. It is a wonderful alternative to sitting in front of a TV.
Shortly after Thanksgiving as the holiday season gets underway, the park has its annual tree lighting ceremony which kicks off the season for nightly displays of lights in honor of the peace of the season.
On the corner of the property you may notice a closed up stone building. Well that is the Rose Tree Tavern. In 2004 it was moved inland around 200 feet to make way for a future expansion of the intersection it had been built on in the late 1700's. A heartfelt thanks to the powers that be, that saved this historical building from the wrecking ball. For more info check here www.pspe.org/delco/rosetree.pdf
So whenever you choose or you just happen to be on the outskirts of Media on Route 252, take a few minutes to stop and enjoy the peace and calm that this green setting can offer.

LINVILLA ORCHARDS, MEDIA, PENNSYLVANIA (Brookhaven, PA - Delaware County)
137 W. Knowlton Road
Media, PA 19063
Linvilla Orchards is an all season, all age attraction located on the outskirts of Media and Brookhaven. One can easily slip out of suburbia and into the countryside by visiting Linvilla in order to regain a sense of connection with nature and life on the farm. Linvilla keeps up with all the seasons not only in providing the fruits and vegetables that most seasons bring, but they provide attractions, like Pumpkin Land and blueberry picking; activities to engage people in the season that is at hand.
There is a store for buying many edible goods, a zoo of sorts where one can see animals up close, craft
shows and special events throughout the year, a playground and of course many acres of farmland.
Close to the main entrance are the remains of a stone foundation of an octagon barn, which was a main attraction in itself prior to its destruction in a fire in 2002. A wonderful building missed by many, myself included. There are plans to rebuild the barn in the future.

PARKSIDE, DELAWARE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA (PA) For those of you who do not know of Parkside, welcome to this little Borough hidden inside the Brookhaven zip code 19015. I did not become aware of this little community until I got involved in real estate and then low and behold I started to hear about people who grew up in Parkside and still have relatives living there....You know how that works.
Parkside, I imagine was named for the fact that it sits very close to Chester Park (please correct me if I am wrong). There is another stretch of park area that can be accessed off of Park Vallei Road. A trail through the woods from that area will take you to Ridley Creek.
The Parkside Elementary School was opened roughly 5 years ago and the old school was recently torn down
giving the community a green space for the school children and for our eyes to enjoy.
Within the Borough's limits you will find a firehouse, a dance studio, a donut shop, a few good eateries, a few car repair shops, a gas station, a few hair salons, a barber shop, a dry cleaner/alteration shop, a church and a few more businesses along with all the 800+ domiciles.
Check out Parkside's wonderful new website at www.parksideboro.com

TOM JONES est. 1970
FAMILY RESTAURANT
Open 24 Hours Everyday
4417 Edgmont Avenue
Brookhaven, Pa 19015
610-874-1055
If you have never been to Tom Jones Family Restaurant for breakfast you are missing an experience. This is a hot spot for low budget eating and a place where time has stood still. The waitresses all wear respectively short skirts, most of the seating is in booths, of course there is the counter for those who may be in a hurry or want to chat with the staff, and you will most likely be called "hun" when you interact with your server. The Blue Ribbon Special is by far the favorite breakfast choice and for good reason. For only $3.49 you will receive a hot beverage, a cold beverage, eggs, hotcakes, toast, sausage and bacon. What a deal and they make it 24 hours a day!
I drive by this place many times during the week at various hours of the day and I am always amazed at how busy it can be at the most unexpected times. Plan to go to breakfast when you are really hungry and are not in a hurry, because you will most likely have to wait in line to be served. In my experience, service has been good and I am always happy to leave with a full belly and change in my pocket.
