"Rams Head Goes Irish on St. Patrick's Day With A Huge Party!"
The Rams Head locations are known for their great parties - the 2012 St. Patrick's day events promise to be no different. The only difficulty you may have is deciding which Rams Head to visit!
The Annapolis locations, the Rams Head Tavern on 33 West Street and the Rams Head Roadhouse on Generals Hwy, will kick off the celebrations at noon with tent parties!
All locations will have drink specials starting with 50 cents for a Guiness from noon to 1 pm and $3 for a Green Beer while supplies last. Naturally, traditional Irish fare will complement the menu at all Restaurant locations.

Live entertainment is also lined up for each location from noon until close. My personal favorite is the Rams Head Tavern at Savage Mill - it's such a fantastic setting ... and said to be haunted!
The Rams Head Tavern is a great place to visit all year round, with Happy Hour Specials, plenty of live entertainment, Jazz Brunch Sundays and Military Appreciation Night on Thursdays (for active-duty SVC MBRs, specials start at 8pm). If you have never visited, St. Patrick's Day this year may be the perfect day to do that ... Rams Head Goes Irish!

2012 St. Patrick's Day at McGinty's Public House in Silver Spring, MD
When I lived in Dublin in the mid-90s my very Irish friends were so kind to help me avoid the typical tourist traps and let me in on the proper Irish way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Although Silver Spring, MD is no Dublin you can still celebrate Saint Patrick's Day in style.
First, one must not work. How convenient that St. Paddy's Day falls on a Saturday this year!
Second, one must participate in the parade or at the very least mingle with the crowd. Unfortunately, Silver
Spring, MD does not put on their own St. Patrick's Day Parade but our very close neighbor Gaithersburg does.
In its 12th year the Gaithersburg St. Patrick's Day parade is becoming a big event. Last year almost twice as many people as expected attended - about 7,000 I remember reading. The parade is organized by the City of Gaithersburg, the Harp and Shamrock Society of Gaithersburg, The Peterson Companies and the Washingtonian Center and will take place March 17th, 2012 from 10 am to noon at the Washingtonian Center, followed by live entertainment at the Lakefront Plaza.
Third, one must go pub crawling. That might be another challenge as Silver Spring, MD does not have enough Irish Pubs in close proximity to one another to actually crawl to and fro'. However, you could just choose to celebrate at McGinty's Public House, they have a full day planned, crawling home may be the only crawling you'll have to do:
McGinty's Public House is at 911 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring, MD 20910. Live entertainment starts at 2 pm with the Culkin School of Irish Dancing, followed by Irish bands and music and lasts until .. well .. close. Irish food and drinks are served all day of course. *Please note that Ellsworth Dr. is pedestrian only from Friday afternoons until Monday mornings*
Fourth, drinking Guiness, Murphy's, Oyster, Kilkenny etc. is not optional (but dancing is) and should be accompanied by some Irish Whiskey .. just in case you are wondering which Irish beer to try here's a very nicely done review of the Top Ten Irish Beers.
Fifth, enjoy yourself. That about sums it up. Happy St. Paddy's Day!
