Speechless Sunday - Seal At La Jolla Childrens Pool

Speechless Sunday - Seal At La Jolla Childrens Pool

Eighty years ago, Ellen Browning Scripps, La Jolla philanthropist, had a sea wall built at Casa Beach to provide protection from the waves so children could swim at this location. Since then, local Harbor Seals have really taken to this premier piece of La Jolla real estate and every season have their babies here. The seals are a tourist (and locals) favorite and to protect them during pupping season there is a barrier rope put up so people can't come to close to the seals and their vulnerable pups. This season's rope was just removed yesterday.

Here is a photo I took last fall, only one seal playing in the water at La Jolla Cove but I really liked the sun on the water effect. Even though I have lived here for years the natural beauty of the region still awes me!

Speechless Sunday's - Memorial Day Theme

Speechless Sunday's - Memorial Day Theme

Since San Diego is such a huge military town (250,000 active duty, 900,000 veterans!), and we are so grateful for all they have done to protect us and our freedom, I thought I would share some military photos. The first picture is one we took at the Century of Flight. This was an event that celebrated 100 years of military flight training at Coronado Naval Air Station. It was not that long after Orville and Wilbur invented planes that they were training military aviators to take off from Coronado Island! They have come a long way in the equipment though. Here are the revered Blue Angels.............

The next photo is of a V22 Osprey based at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station......

Happy Memorial Day!

Want to "Live Like a Californian" and Win Money???

The California Travel and Tourism Commission is sponsoring a fun sweepstakes that will showcase our beautiful Golden State and you might even win money or a fabulous trip to my home town, San Diego! In the ad for the sweepstakes they mention another, much more famous, San Diegan Jason Mraz. San Diego was recently named as one of the most Creative Cities in the country so it is no surprise there are so many well-known musicians, artists, athletes and actors who call "America's Finest City" home.

Enter the contest, I hope you win the Grand Prize, or at least $250. And, for your San Diego Real Estate needs, call 800-928-1672 Ext 200 or visit SanDiegoAndOCHomeSearch.com Good Luck!
