Things to do and see in Carmel, California

Carmel, California

Carmel, CA. Beach A visit to Carmel, California is not complete without walking (or driving) down the hill from town to the beach at the foot of Ocean Ave. This is a great, wide sandy beach for walking or walking your dog. Carmel is an especially dog friendly area and dogs are allowed to roam off leash on the beach.

The beach is sloped and shaped like an ampitheatre. Come early to get a "good seat" to watch the evening show - when the sun sets over the water. Locals and tourists alike sit and watch the gorgeous sunsets here.

You may see locals strolling thru the neighborhood, glass of wine in hand, making their way to the beach for the show. Sometimes when it is an especially good sunset - people clap. Thank you God!

Before or after the "show" stroll thru the downtown area and check out the shops. There are a number of unique local shops. The buildings are quaint, lots of flowers and charm. Downtown Area - Carmel, CA

Don't miss stopping in Carmel Plaza which has 40 shops, boutiques and cafes. The flowers are incredible here.
