Generally, the resolution of our photographs will be on the high end, rarely (if ever) less than 1MB, and often much more. It won't be uncommon to find photographs in the 5MB to 20MB range.

We know that a picture is worth a thousand worlds, but surely you want to make sure that the thousand words are good words, right? That doesn't mean that you should use the biggest picture you have because it can cause your ActiveRain blog or your web site to load agonizingly slowly, and we all know how impatient people can be on the Internet, including me!

Often a picture resizing program is in order, especially in your ActiveRain blog and on your web site. If the picture is too big, and I consider any picture over 1 MB to be way too big for a blog or a web site, a picture resizer is in order.

If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, I can recommend VSO Image Resizer. I like it because I can simply click on hundreds of pictures and have VSO Image Resizer do its thing, all in a matter of a few minutes if I'm doing hundreds of pictures.
