Finding the right realtor this applies all over the US not just California

Interesting article about selecting the right realtor. This applies all over the US.

Selling property in Los Angeles is competitive enough in a normal economical situation. Now the task has become that much more difficult and challenging. Is there anything that can be done to improve your chances of selling your property and getting a descent price for it? We're going to take a look at what might help you.

How to Find a Realtor

In the Los Angeles real estate market selling a home without the assistance and expertise of a qualified agent is almost unheard of. This is where we'll start our task. Begin talking to those in the know to get the names of three to six highly recommended real estate agents from people that you trust. Word of mouth is far more trustworthy than any other form of advertising. Chances are good that if an agent did a good enough job for a friend that they would recommend them, they will do as good for you. If you get the same name recommended from multiple people, that is a very good sign.

Once you've made your list of agents, begin contacting and interviewing the agents to find out which one has the experience and knowledge in your specific situation to benefit you the most. It is also important that you feel comfortable with the agent.

Know Your L.A. Realtor

Some of the questions you may want to ask include:

· How long have you been a real estate agent?
· How familiar are you with my particular neighborhood?
· How many closing have you completed recently?
· What advice would you give me to prepare my home for sale?
· Do you act as a buyer's agent or a seller's agent more often?
· How many listings do you currently have?
· What manner of advertising will you employ for my home?
· How long would they expect your home to remain on the market before selling?

Once you decide on an agent, be sure that the agent fully explains the contract that you will be signing before you sign. You need to know what the length of time that you will be obligated to them is. You will want to be sure that you have an escape if you become unsatisfied with the agent's services at any time. Once your contract lapses, is there a waiting period before you can sell the home through another realtor?

Listen to your realtor's suggestions regarding preparing your house for market. You may need to perform some repairs and cosmetic enhancements to be able to get the most from home. A well maintained home that is clean and uncluttered will bring a far better price than a very lived in home.

It is important to become friends with your realtor as you will trust them with the security of your home as well as the well-being of your financial deals. There may be information that is expected to remain confidential. As you will be committed to this relationship for a period of time, you must have confidence in your agent's ability, honesty, integrity, and ethics.
