Uh-oh, I feel an "Emily" suggestion coming on --- *update the exterior by painting the brick a nice 2008 color and update that landscaping for some better curb appeal - easy to do and fairly inexpensive*

Okay, I went for the gusto and put in all of the pictures of this darling house. And my close friends know why... I LOVE BUILT-INS!!! Built-ins to me equal "I don't have to buy a bunch of new furniture to store stuff in!"

If i had to choose between these three, I would pick the first and least expensive of the three. The renovations have been done, even down to the exterior landscaping/painting. The house is situated on the "true" side of West Meade and has the square footage that the last one has to offer as well.

But that is what I wanted to blog on tonight! I just love finding these little treasures out there!

So if you are a first time buyer in Davidson County's Nashville and you want to live on the South Side, consider these!

First up is 1308 Little Hamilton Avenue in the trendy up-and-coming area near the Fairgrounds. Formally called Wedgewood Houston, this little pocket of houses is just off of the I-65 Wedgewood Avenue exit and new development is slowly but surely pushing this way!

So, 1308 Little Hamilton Avenue is listed at $73,900 with 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath and just under 1000 square feet.

It was completely renovated in 2005 and has been foreclosed on, so time to take advantage!

Secondly, take a look at 359 Hester Avenue for $85,000. This 768 square foot house has 2 Bedrooms and 1 Bath and is located off of Nolensville Road.

Nice hardwoods!

And last, but not least, here is 1907 Seminole Avenue for $89,900. This is the smallest of the three, but it has been so creatively renovated, it really is a jewel! 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath and 660 Square Feet. DARLING!

It sure was a lot of fun!

Over the Holidays, I decided that I wanted a change from my boring kitchen counter top. When I moved into my house a little over a year ago, I knew I had a project ahead of me (I bought it at under market value) and over time I have been improving it.

Can you even fathom the pastel vinyl? I have at least had some nice tile put in. And there were big garage-type fluorescent lights. I had them taken out as well and had my cute chandeliers put in and a nice fixture over the sink put in. Oh, and I have changed out all of the handles and the sink faucet. But the pink laminate countertop was really wearing me down.

(Really what the kitchen needs is a complete overhaul. But I am not quite ready to take on that project so I thought I would try something cheap in the meantime.)

Okay, so I thought hmmmm.... what would be a cheap solution to this pink countertop? The rest of the house hasa distinctively art deco flair to it, so I thought - well, I will buy a book on art deco style and cut out the pics that I like and decoupage them onto the counter.

Keep in mind that I have never decoupaged in my life.

I got on Amazon and ordered a gorgeous used book on Art Deco for $35. It arrived and I commenced cutting out the pics that I really liked. Then I began to arrange them on the countertop.

Because Paris and New York are two of my favorite cities, I selected pictures that had to do with them. To the left of the sink I put all of the Paris pictures and to the right of the sink I put all of the New York pictures - so take a look at how it came out!

More Fun Stuff!

All told I guess the project cost me about $75? Not bad for a lot of fun and now extremely personalized countertop, which will keep me entertained until I do a remodel on the kitchen!
