Completed the 2009 Transit Alliance Citizen's Academy

This week, I successfully completed the seven week Transit Alliance Citizen's Academy. After being exposed to an overwhelming amount of information regarding transit-oriented development, I left feeling like I had only touched the surface and that I need to study so much more as I move forward in trying to share what I have learned to date.

Mike Henderson, who also works for Your Castle Real Estate, and I are putting a presentation together on Transit Oriented Development and the effect on property values. We will be focusing on the southeast line of the light rail and analyzing specific stations and the impact light rail has had on home values within 1/2 mile of the stations.

Our program will be presented for the first time on June 26th at the Jefferson County Association of Realtors. Additionally, we will be available to share the information with community groups such as Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis organizations, Chambers of Commerce as well as the real estate boards in the metro Denver Area.

Tie-dyed Easter Eggs

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Easter! Recently I ran across an article on how to make unusual easter eggs by using men's old, colorful silk ties. Goodwill and other thrift shops are a wonderful resource to finding old ties rather than raiding your husband's collection - although, there are a few I would love to see find a new life elsewhere. With the help of vinegar and cheese cloth, you can produce beautiful, unique eggs that reflect the design of the original silk ties.

No Rain in Sight

When my day is filled with so many deadlines, numerous difficulties and an overwhelming desire to just get away from it all, I pull up photos of St. Croix and imagine that I am on the beach at Buck Island. I take a deep breath, close my eyes.....and I am there. Life is slow, uncomplicated and beautiful.
