Business Roundtable Recommendation to Reinvigorate Housing

I recently had the opportunity to be a part of a conference call with other real estate brokers throughout the country to listen to the unveiling of Business Roundtable's new recommendations on how to re-energize the housing market in the United States. Richard A. Smith, the CEO of Realogy (the organization of which ERA Landmark is a franchisee), has been in Washington, D.C. serving in the capacity of chair of the Business Roundtable's Housing Working Group. The Business Roundtable is an association of chief executive officers of many leading companies in the U.S. The group's objective was to develop ideas on how to improve the current housing market, which in turn should stimulate economic growth as a whole. These solutions were then passed along to Congress and the White House for consideration. There are five main proposals, rewritten verbatim, listed below along with some explanation of the thought processes behind them.

  1. Keep mortgage interest rates at historically low levels (below 5 percent) for at least one year;

The hope is for policy makers to keep up the efforts to hold rates at or below 5 percent. It is believed that many qualified buyers are holding off on purchasing a home anticipating that rates will fall even further. If the rates were guaranteed to remain below 5 percent, but for only a finite period of time, home buyers would then have the peace of mind and incentive to make their purchase decision and act before that set expiration date.

2009 MDA Golf Tournament - Bozeman, Montana

Dear Friends,

ERA Landmark Real Estate is continuing its dedication in giving back to the community through a charitable organization. The ERA annual "MDA Partners in Caring" golf tournament will be held on September 11, 2009 at the Bridger Creek Golf Course with the proceeds benefiting the Montana Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Last years' event was a smashing success, with over $10,000.00 raised benefiting 500 Montana families fighting neuromuscular disease. This year we are looking to surpass that total by encouraging more team participation adding to the excitement of the day. The MDA and ERA are asking for your business's support in aiding our worthy cause by way of a donation or participation in the actual event.

The funds that will be raised at this event will provide much needed services to our families throughout the state of Montana, 65 of which live in the Gallatin Valley. MDA prides itself on the quality of our clinics, free of charge to our clients; wheelchair and leg brace assistance; support groups; research and an awesome summer camp for Montana children ages 6-17 located at Camp Make a Dream in Gold Creek, Montana.

Below is a brief breakdown of the costs associated with these services:

  • $30 pays for one flu shot
  • $82 pays for one minute of research
  • $100 pays for one support group session
  • $150 one physical, occupational or respiratory therapy consultation
  • $200 professional fees related to initial diagnostic work-up at MDA clinic
  • $500 assists one person for one year with the repair of a wheelchair or leg brace
  • $800 cost of sending one child to MDA summer camp
  • $2,000 assists one person with the purchase of a wheelchair; leg braces or communication device

As you can see from the above costs every entry fee will make a substantial difference for our clients. For your records, the Tax ID # is 13-1665552. Thank you for your past participation and I would encourage everyone to grab their clubs and hit the links for MDA!

See you on the course!

Theresa Coleman, Sales Associate, of ERA Landmark Western Land has received the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Green Designation, the only green real estate professional designation recognized by NAR.

Theresa Coleman achieved the prestigious designation after completing 18 hours of course work designed specifically for REALTORS®. The courses were created in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of industry experts from across the country; ensuring designees gain comprehensive knowledge of green homes and buildings and issues of sustainability in relation to real estate. They were trained in understanding what makes a property green, helping clients evaluate the cost/benefits of green building features and practices, distinguishing between industry rating and classification systems, listing and marketing green homes and buildings, discussing the financial grants and incentives available to homeowners, and helping consumers see a property's green potential.

NAR's Green Designation was developed in response to growing consumer awareness of the benefits of resource-efficient homes and buildings. The designation helps consumers who care about energy efficiency and sustainable building practices identify REALTORS(c) who can help them realize their green real estate and lifestyle goals.
