Slate Run Metro Park

Spring is here and it is time to get outside and enjoy nature. Slate Run Metro Park is one of my favorite spots to take my family to play, picnic and educate. EDUCATE??? Did you say educate? Yes. Slate Run features a living historical farm. Visitors can see what life was like living on a farm more than 100 years ago. Imagine having to plow a field with no gas powered equipment whatsoever. Yes, it is done with true horsepower.

For hours of operation check out the following link http://www.metroparks.net/ParksHours.aspx

At Slate Run you will find a beautiful wetland, which is home to all sorts of wildlife. As well as, over 13 miles of trails to explore. And, for family fun, there is a fantastic playground for the children to play. Plus, check out their magnificent shelters and picnic areas.

Slate Run Metro Park is located at 1375 State Route 674 N., Canal Winchester, OH 43110.

Why I love Canal Winchsester, Ohio

I love this village. It feels like a small town, but has the convenience of being only about 15 miles outside of downtown Columbus, OH. When I first moved here (about 6 years ago), the area was just begining to grow. Since, those years have passed we have grown to almost being deemed a "city." However, even with the large growth, the village has still retained its small town charm. As businesses have moved in, the use of tacky building materials has been restricted, in order to maintain the area's beauty. You will fall in love as you stroll through its historic downtown area. It has a quaint, friendly atmosphere. I encourage anyone to come and visit and better yet, move to this lovely area. You will love calling it home.
