FREE ADMISSION!The Assembly of Dust

  • 8:00 am Main Street Mile Fun Run
    • The Main Street Mile is a race for all ages, sizes, and speeds. The Main Street Mile starts near the downtown City Park earlier on Saturday morning, August 2nd, at 8:00am. Registration begins at 7:30. This mini-event will go from Main Street, down Rope Mill Road to Woodstock Elementary, and then back to the downtown City Park.
  • The music starts at 7:30 pm with "The City Counsil Band" as the opening Act!
  • 8:15 pm - Intermission! The extreme racers begin their run from the park to begin their 24 hour (non-stop) journey of jogging, biking and kayaking!
  • 8:30 pm - THE ASSEMBLY OF DUST will be bringing their '70s style music to our fair city!

Come early and bring blankets for your spot on the lawn! Great food and fun activities for the children will be available during the evening festivities!

Interesting Acworth Facts:

The Civil War brought "The Great Locomotive Chase" through Acworth in April 1862 when James Andrew's Raiders stole the famous engine, "The General," in nearby Big Shanty. Sherman was headquartered in Acworth for several days. The town was spared the torch until November 1864; many homes and buildings were burned.

In 1950, Lake Allatoona was completed and it, along with Lake Acworth, created recreational opportunities. Today, Acworth is the center of a thriving, vibrant community.
