Altadena has beautiful views of the San Gabriel Mountains, and now, the roses are breathtaking.

Now that spring is here and summer coming along, I have seen so many beautiful flowers, especially roses in many homes. As I drive along Altadena Drive, up Marengo Avenue, I encounters these magnificent roses.

Other great locations to check out the blooming flowers are the Huntington Library and the Descanso Gardens.

SUMMER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER - GET READY FOR THE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES.

Farnsworth Park located in Altadena, CA at 568 E. Mount Curve Ave. offer concerts during the summer months.

The first concert is scheduled on June 14 Saturday.

The Altadena Sheriff's Station and the LA County Deparment of Parks and Recreation host the concerts and at NO COSTS to the public.

The Altadena Sheriff's Station which is located at 780 E. Altadena Drive, aside of overseeing public safety in the community, they have hosted number of events in Halloween and Christmas.

It's not Christmas yet, but we know how fast a year goes by, right?

In Altadena, there is a street call the Christmas Tree Lane where each year, a "Lighting Ceremony" is held in December.

Christmas Tree Lane is located between Altadena Drive and Woodbury Road on Santa Rosa Avenue.

In 1886, the Woodbury Family who were the founders of Altadena planted 134 deodar trees on this lane which would lead to the entrance of the mansion which were in plan to be built. Well, the home was never built but the trees grew and grew, and "housed" the Santa Rosa Ave.

In 1920, first tree lighting event took place. Christmas Tree Lane is listed in the national Register of Historic Places, and California Historic Landmakr No. 990.

The Christmas Tree Lane Association, a non profit group, has worked with dedicated volunteers and people who donate to put this event up each year. The lighting occurs on 2nd Saturday of December. This event brings throusands of visitors to the street. It is absolutely beautiful to see the colorful lights dancing with the deodar trees.

However, this wonderful history bringing the joy of Christmas and spirit yearly may be seeing a "DARK LANE" soon. There have been lack of volunteers and not enough interest from the community. It is sad to see that not only this site but we see more or more events closing its door due to lack of funds, help and interest. In March and April, volunteers are needed to take the lights down.
