President as Matchmaker

The front page of our local paper, the Hunterdon County Democrat, carried a story with a picture which looks like it came out of a fairy tale. A local girl, Brooke Hardy, tried out for American Idol. While she did not make the cut there, she made an impression in Washington.

Her longtime boyfriend is a Marine Staff Sergeant, Chris Kelk. His most recent assignment was at the White House. Reassignment from the White House includes a photo with the president. Brooke was with Chris when he went for his picture with President Bush. According to the article, President Bush said to Chris, "Don't let this one get away. You better marry this girl...She's such a beautiful girl."

The next evening Chris made a very romantic proposal. After dinner at the Perryville Inn, the couple took a walk on the Milford Bridge at sunset. Chris did the traditional gesture of getting down on one knee to propose.

You should be able to access the complete story and picture on www.nj.com/hunterdon. Now we can all beleive in fairy tales again!

4 H Fair

This week Hunterdon County is having the 4 H Fair at the fairgrounds in Ringoes. I had the opportunity to spend some time there this afternoon. Here are some pictures:

me at fair This is the Weidel booth at the fair. I'm holding a balloon which I soon gave away to one of the kids there. You can see the display boards behind me which have pictures of some of our listings. People do come in to see the pictures and chat about real estate.

me and the Weidel truck

Here I am standing next to the 1947 Weidel Dodge truck. People like to see this truck which is also driven in parades in Hunterdon county.

Hope you enjoyed these pictures. I'll try to post more later in the week of other attractions at the fair.

Come Meet Me at The Fair

The annual Hunterdon 4-H and Agricultural Fair begins Wednesday, August 20, and runs through Sunday, August 24. Weidel Realtors will have a booth at the fair and I will be there Wednesday from 3 to 6, Thursday from 1 to 3 and Saturday from 1 to 3. We will be giving out some balloons for the kids and other goodies for the adults. Our tent will have a display of some of our listings in the area.

Next week I'll try to post some pictures so you can see that New Jersey still knows how to hold an old-fashioned, country fair. There will be plenty of animals to see, food to eat, and rides to enjoy. The Community Garden Club will have displays of native plants and wildflowers.

Entrance to the fair is free but there is a $10 charge for parking so car-pooling is encouraged. Come have a great time at the fair!
