Teens can really get into the attention of their vehicle, can't they? And if you're into Car Shows, then you won't want to miss this! A Car Show on Saturday, February 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m in Coral Springs Florida. The show, sponsored by Project CS Teen Car Club and co-sponsored by Auto Works Collision and Paint, Inc., will be held at the Sportsplex, across from the Tennis Center. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students and children. The show will feature cars of all types and models. There will be vendors, bounce houses, Miami Food Trucks, Teen Cook-Off competition, demonstrations by our Fire and Police Departments, face painting and carnival games and entertainment throughout the day, including a DJ. Anyone who thinks his or her car has what it takes and would like to enter it in the show should call 954-345-2204. Cost to pre-register vehicles is $15 or $20 the day of the event. Participants can pre-register at the Coral Springs Gymnasium, located at 2501 Coral Springs Drive. Trophies will be awarded to winners in multiple categories. Any business interested in setting up a 10’ x 10’ booth for $40 should also call 954-345-2204. Non-profits and students groups are also welcome to set up booths at the event for free.

Normally, debt forgiveness results in taxable income. However, under the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act of 2007, you may be able to exclude up to $2 million of debt forgiven on your Broward County principal residence. Uncle Sam is still giving homeowners until Dec. 31, 2012, to go through a short sale or foreclosure on their Broward County without tax consequences – as long as the lender officially releases the debt. The Act was designed to help homeowners avoid additional financial hardship created by short sales, foreclosure and mortgage restructuring. But that window is closing soon. Because on Jan. 1, 2013, the rules change: The amount a lender forgives, ether in a short sale or foreclosure, on a primary residence will be taxable on federal income taxes. Say you owe $500,000 on a home you sell in a Short Sale for $350,000. That leaves $150,000 to be forgiven by the Short Sale Bank. If forgiven, and the Seller of that home is in a 15% tax bracket, that could mean $22,500 in additional Federal income taxes. You may owe federal income taxes in 2013 if you have a short sale, foreclosure after this year. So, if you have been toying with doing a short sale on your Broward County home, you have decision making to do. Short sales can take a long time. And you don't want to go into shock for taking a minute too long.
