Yesterday I wrote about museums offering free admission this coming Saturday in St Petersburg and there is one extremely important museum that I neglected to mention. It is so important that I thought it needed it's own post! That is the Florida International Museum! It will also allow residents of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties in for free with proper ID.
Take advantage of this day and take the family to the museum! We are going to take the Little One (my granddaughter) to the Great Explorations Children's Hands-On Museum!!! I can't wait to see her face and promise to take plenty of photos!!!!

Driftwood is part of OLD SOUTH ST PETERSBURG. It is unique, charming, funky and located directly on Tampa Bay. The streets in this community have large old oaks forming an umbrella over them. It is a wonderful area to take a walk at anytime of the day or early evening. I love to walk here whenever I visit my good friend, Natalie, who lives in this wonderful area of south St Petersburg.
A couple of years ago I lived here with Natalie for a few months while I was in transition from one location to another. I got to know the area well - I also fell in love with the neighborhood!
When I walk the streets through Driftwood I forget how close we are to the center of St Petersburg's downtown area. Here time stands still and you forget where you are! You can watch the dolphins playing in the bay and sit outside with a book - you don't here any traffic - it is a peaceful world!!!

Wagner's Valkyrie comes to Tarpon Springs starting tomorrow, April 25th! Having seen Der Ring des Nibelungen in Bayreuth (Wagner's home in Germany), I highly recommend this! Tarpon Springs constantly goes above and beyond in offering a wonderful variety of theatrical performances at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center!
This performance of The Valkyrie will be sung in English by the New Century Opera. Performances will take place on Friday, April 25th at 7pm and again on May 2 at 7pm.

St Petersburg Clay Company will kick off the work of resident artist Vai Alandikar's new exhibition with a FREE opening reception this Friday from 7 to 9 pm. Alandikar's new show titled 'MANTRA' can be seen at the St Petersburg Clay Company located in the old Seaboard Train Station on 22nd Street South in St Petersburg.
This is a wonderful chance to see the works of a fantastic local artist. His 'MANTRA' collection has pieces with Sanskrit characters on them! You will want to see his work and at the same time get to know the St Petersburg Clay Company! All of your pottery and ceramic needs can be found in this wonderful place!
I used to have a small studio of my own, so this is a topic that is near and dear to my heart! My ceramic/pottery classes began years ago, when I lived in Germany and continued until Carpel Tunnel made it difficult to work with clay. It is a wonderful, theraputic art form that everyone should at least try!!!
