Florida's Snowy Egret is a beautiful shore bird that can be seen all over the state. These graceful birds can be found standing in groups asleep near mangroves or wading along the shoreline, looking for fish.
This little guy was originally with a group of 5 when I first saw him. They were protected somewhat from the wind by the mangroves nearby.
This is just a small example of the beautiful birds that frequent our shores here in the Sunshine State!
Honeymoon Island is beautiful no matter what the weather is! I was out there one afternoon last week and walked to the point (3.5 miles around trip) to get a little sun and exercise. It was a windy afternoon, you can tell that Winter is just ending.
But as always here in Florida, the sun was out and there were plenty of people enjoying the afternoon.
I love Honeymoon Island for a couple of reasons: it is a state park and offers all the conveniences of a park, including showers to rinse off AND it has been rated time and again one of the best beaches in the area! It is never that crowded (especially if you take the time to walk to the north point) and there is always a cool breeze!
Located at the end of the Dunedin Causeway, Honeymoon Island also connects by ferry to Caladesi Island, which is a short distance away! Be sure to visit both! You will be sure to fall in love!
Pinellas County has so many wonderful golf courses to play on! With over 50 golf courses, you do not have to travel very far to play a game of golf here in Pinellas County!!!
What better way to spend an afternoon than on the golf course? Ron and I took off Friday afternoon and he decided to play some golf with the guys that work for him at Nomad Golf WRX in Tarpon Springs where he makes custom wedges. (www.NomadGolfWRX.com)

Yesterday Ron and I went out by the Skyway Bridge for an afternoon of fishing. We had a wonderful time but did not catch anything but bait fish. The wind was blowing since we had a cold front on it's way in and the water is probably still a little too cold for fishing off shore.
In spite of the fact that we did not catch anything worth mentioning in over 4 hours, it was a lot of fun and good practice on casting a line out for me (the last time I went fishing was with my father as a kid)!
We were not the only people out, but when I see people in water like here I am sure they were from up North - the water is 68 degrees - WAY TOO COLD for anyone that lives here to venture into!!!!
Itopia is a lovely community on the St Petersburg side of the Gandy Bridge. It is convenient to Tampa, St Petersburg and Clearwater. It is also convenient to MacDill AFB. Right now I am working with someone who is stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa who would love to rent there.
