Tankard Fellowship Tuesday the 10th

Been on a mission trip lately? Ever wanted to go and been a bit hesitant of how you could? Get your questions ready as tomorrow night at Tankard Fellowship there will be a few folks you can ask.

· Getting away from work that long
· What to bring
· What you will lose while on the trip
· What not to bring
· Will your family let you go
· Do you bring gifts for those you are heading to mission to
· Do you try and bring a laptop and fit in some work
· Where do you stay while away
· What do you eat

A group just came back from going to Peru - they would be happy to share with you what to expect for when you are called next.

Hope to see you, 8:30pm 2nd Tuesday of each month,

Geoffrey-

Tankard Fellowship is a Monthly men's event held on the 2nd Tuesday with an 8:30pm start time at Lochrann's Irish Pub. The idea is simple, Christian men connecting over a pint. It started in June, 2008.

"All participants in any Tankard Fellowship event shall assume full and complete responsibility for any injury or accident which may occur during or arising from their participation in the event. All participants hereby release and hold harmless Tankard Fellowship and its individual organizers and promoters from all liability."

cell phone applications

So do you have a cell phone that lets you load and use applications, called apps? I have the iPhone (though Julie still calls this my aPhone) and I have some great apps, 7 pages of them. Here is what is on my main page, Safari web browser, calendar, To Do's, iPod, Facebook, Tweetie, Bible Verses, iTalk to God, Birthday Cal, Echofon (2nd Tweet- this one for the Frisco cycling club) Camera, The Weather Channel, foursquare, LiveStrong, News Fuse and Pandora.

And my new favorite app is the LiveStrong as it is my work out log and calorie counter. Ever since mom came down to help us with the twins and her comments about my gain in weight did I really take notice that I was putting on a few extra LBS. With this app I can see how crappy I eat and that working out truly does help!

Have a favorite app you are using- do tell-

Frisco Needs Safe Passing for Vulnerable Road Users

In June 2009 SB 488, the "Safe Passing" bill that would have created a safe zone of three feet around vulnerable road users (including pedestrians, runners, motorcyclists, cyclists, workers and more), was passed in the state of Texas. Similar laws have been passed in many other states including Arizona, Utah, Oklahoma, Colorado and Florida.

"However, the Frisco Cycling Club received an alert concerning the bill on the day that it was to have been signed into law by Governor Perry that he was going to veto it. We immediately went on the offensive and alerted our members and friends to email or call his office and let him know how important this bill was to many Texans," said Geoffrey Davis, president of Frisco Cycling Club. It was over 5 years ago

It was over 5 years ago, my church; St. Philip's Episcopal was still meeting in Bright elementary school. A team of us rotated to set the church up each Sunday morning and then break it down and store it for next week. It was on one of those Sunday early mornings that I was on shift and my set up partner, Grady Lesser had just two words for me, Baby Wise and a minivan. You see, Lucas had just been born a few days earlier and I must have been looking not so rested. And his comments were taken to heart- Baby Wise is a great guide book for new parents and one we like to send to expecting parents. But his comments about the minivan came to light this last weekend at the soccer game for Lucas. I was on the passenger side unloading Seth and the twins and I hear a thud, then a 2nd one. I look over and sure enough- the car next to me was putting it to the ManVan. And they were set to keep loading and do nothing until I ask, "How bad is it?" Surprised as they did not know anyone was around, let alone the owner. So here is what I have to say to you parents with youngsters- read Baby Wise and stop letting your kids fling open their doors and bang my van unless you plan to leave me a note and fix it.

Race Across the Sky

That is the title of a documentary about this year's Leadville 100 bicycle race. You may remember reading the news that this year Lance Armstrong won the event. It will be shown on October 22nd at 7pm Cinemark Plano West location. Shown just a few days before the Austin LiveStrong ride and yes, you can still join the FCC team or donate to us.

The date this move is shown is a special milestone for Lance. His cancer was diagnosed on October 2, 1996. "October 2, 1996. The day it all changed. The day I started never to take anything for granted. The day I learned to take charge of my life. It was the day I was diagnosed with cancer." -Lance Armstrong
