We Did It! Hoops in the Square happened this weekend in Frisco with over 200 athletes in attendance! Some famous folks joined us, Former Maverick great, Derek Harper, Maverick's Director of Scouting, Reggie Johnson, Todd Bristol with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Jed Bush's son, George P Bush. Some famous folks even played on teams: Collin County Judge, Keith Self and Frisco City Councilman Jeff Cheney did a fine job representing the County and City!

Our event Board members were overwhelmed as were our Sponsors. We had the privilege of working with the founder of Hoop de Do and Hoop it Up, Linda Murphy and she had this to say to us after the tournament: Heartiest congratulations on the first year of Frisco Hoops in the Square. It was really fantastic! Not only well organized and lots of fun, but very successful in so many ways and great training for next year. Everyone had a grand time, and that will make next year even bigger and better. It was just fabulous. I am so proud of you, and everyone that worked so hard to make it successful.

Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County 3rd Annual Golf Tournament on October 15th. Your participation helps provide decent affordable housing for deserving families in the community. To date we have built 38 homes in South Collin County with plans to begin 5 more before the end of the year. Your sponsorship and participation in this year's tournament will help make homeownership a reality for families throughout the county.

4th Annual ‘Blessing of the Animals' Sunday, October 5, from 2:00- 3:00 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 6400 Stonebrooke Parkway, Frisco, TX. There will be fun for people and pets alike as we celebrate the bond we have with our beloved animals, including souvenir pet photos, bandanas and pet treats. All members of the community are welcome; there is no charge for the event. Any household pet may be blessed; please bring them on a leash, or in a pet carrier or cage for their protection. FC Dallas Fun Run 2008!

The TX weather is getting better and it is time to get out of the house again.

Join me on September 28th for a run promoted by the staff of FC Dallas and Luke's Locker. This event is unlike any other. After the 1 mile run- the stadium is yours with a post race party including inflatables, live music, poster making, face painting, autographs from me and FC Dallas players (ok, just the FC Dallas players) food, vendors and much much more. Then, you get to stay for the 2pm game against D.C. United as your entry fee covers that ticket also.

I am a Broker--not a Banker
I chose to become a Broker, rather than a traditional mortgage banker, because I wanted to offer my clients more options than just one bank's programs. When you are a "loan officer" at a bank, you can only offer clients your bank's programs--whether those programs are right for the clients or not. Which means if they don't have a mortgage that meets your needs, they will try to put you into something "close". When it comes to one of the most important and expensive purchases of your life, you deserve to have the right loan to meet your particular situation. As an Independent Broker, I have access to all the larger Lender programs such as CITIMortgage, Countrywide and Chase to name a few. This means you have an expert to shop all the available programs based upon your mortgage criteria and come back to you with the strongest offerings from all companies.

As you probably have noticed, large Lending companies have nice offices, robust marketing budgets and large staffs. In other words, they have "overhead" which has to be paid by someone during the transaction--and, that someone is you. When you approach a major Lender, consumers will receive an off-the-shelf rate versus the competitive rates professional Mortgage Brokers can obtain. As an Independent Mortgage Broker we can obtain competitive rates while keeping our costs low. This means that I can pass these savings on to my clients while still taking advantage of large scale discounts and pre-negotiated rates.

I originally intended to fix up the house and sell it, but I decided to live there instead. When I tried to refinance with the bank after the construction was finished, they told me that I didn't qualify for a mortgage with them because I had another mortgage payment for the condo I was living in, and some credit card debt.
