Gainesville Apartments Closer & Cheaper Than Many Dorms

Many incoming UF students, both freshmen and transfers alike, list proximity to classes as one of their primary reasons for choosing to live on campus their first year. It is an all too common assumption that students are led to believe based on their limited knowledge of other college campuses and the cities that surround them. What students (and parents) don’t know is that Gainesville is particularly unique in the way its off campus housing market has been developed. Since the University of Florida has very limited space to expand on, campus planners made the decision early on to develop more classes and spend less on campus provided housing (i.e. traditional dorms, family housing, etc.) and parking. This has led to an incredible demand for an “off campus” housing market, which is extremely competitive. While many apartments can be quite a distance from the main campus, there are numerous apartments located right across the street from the university. These truly magnificent and Unforgettable Gainesville Apartments are a fantastic choice for those students who are looking to live near campus and at the same time have the modern amenities they want. In fact, by living off campus a typical student is more likely to be able to live closer to their classes, be furnished with luxury amenities, and save on common expenses by splitting living costs with roommates. It’s definitely something to consider!

Gainesville Apartment Complex Slated for Re-Development

Exciting news in the Gainesville apartments market!

Trimark Properties has announced that they will not be renewing or renting out their popular Oak Lawn apartments for the Fall 2009 leasing season. Instead, the award-winning development company will be performing a complete redevelopment on the site begining in August 2009. The redevelopment project will add several buildingds to the current site plan and will include a complete renovation of both the interior and exterior of the current apartments.

For those of you not familiar with Oak Lawn, allow me to give you some background information. Trimark Properties purchased the apartment complex 2 years ago. The small parcel is located two blocks from the University of Florida campus and walking distance to UF classes. It is also located on an important thoroughfaire, across the street from the Alachua General Hospital (also known as Shands at AGH), which has recently been slated to be closed during the 2009 or 2010 year (see several articles in the Gainesville Sun newspaper). Currently, there are three buildings on the site, each holding a total of four apartments. Each of the current apartments are 2 Bedroom / 1 Bathroom floorplans that are rented out of the main Trimark Properties Leasing Office located on 13th Street. The site also includes a parking lot and laundry room, and is across the street from the popular and luxurious Ashton Lane apartment complex.

The new development plans have not been announced in detail. It will be interesting to hear what Trimark Properties has in mind for this important parcel! Check out their Gainesville apartments website for further details.
