3 High Schools in Alachua County Make Newsweek's List!!

Three High Schools in Alachua County, FL are the BEST in U.S. !!

Alachua County is home to three of the nation's top high schools, according to a recent ranking by Newsweek Magazine.

In Newsweek's annual "America Best High Schools" report:

Eastside High was ranked 29th

Buchholz High
was ranked 109th

Gainesville High was  ranked 532nd.

The ranking put these three Alachua County Public Schools in the top 2% of high schools nationwide.

In another section of the annual report, Newsweek assigned an equity and excellence percentage to each ranked school and all three of the Alachua County high schools were ranked well above average. The equity and excellence score was measure of how many received a score of three or higher on at least one Advanced Placement test sometime in High school.

The national average for all high schools in 2007 was 15.2 percent and all three schools easily surpassed that number this year.

In a news release about the rankings, Alachua County School Superintendent Dan Boyd said the district is proud of the schools because "they have done such an excellent job of encouraging students to stretch themselves academically."

It's Turn Over Time in Gainesville

Anyone living in a "college town" knows what the meaning of "TURN OVER" time. At the end of each semester, you have students moving in and moving out....Turn Over Time.

Property management companies that deal with rentals know this is their high stress season. But, I don't want to talk about rentals, let's talk about the Residential Real Estate Market in Gainesville FL.

Today was Graduation Day for the University of Florida. You can't get a hotel room in town this weekend, and you will be waiting for tables at most of the restaurants in town too. I spent my day showing homes to buyers from St. Pete. They are looking for a single family home in a nice neighborhood that is close to UF/Shands for their sons that are starting school here soon. It was a great day! In one neighborhood we saw a very happy family celebrating graduation with a lawn party....they were Very proud parents.

UF Commencement

Turn Over Time is true for working professionals, administrators, and faculty too. It's not just students that move in and out of Gainesville. We Like to Call it GATOR NATION.

Next month will be Graduation Ceremonies for post graduate studies too. We have a Medical School, Dental School, Veterinary Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, and the list goes on. As each class graduates and moves on in their careers, then others roll into Gainesville to start their careers or advance in their fields. All of these things STABILIZE our local real estate market.

Oh, and don't forget that another strong foundation for our real estate market in Gainesville is the large medical network. There are three large hospital networks: SHANDS, North Florida Regional Medical Center, and the VA Medical Center. So many medical professionals, doctors, nurses, and technicians move to and from Gainesville each year as their careers move along.

Go GatorsCurrently, I am working with buyers that fall into all of these categories. And if you are needing a Buyers Agent in Gainesville, I would love to hear from you!

Professionals moving to Gainesville and it's the beginning of our PEAK season.

There is such a great selection of single family homes, condos, and townhomes for sale in Gainesville, and in any price range that fits your budget. So if you need to start planning your move to Gainesville.....just give me a call and let's get started.

GO GATORS!!

And pssst...... I can show you where Urban Meyer & Billy Donovan live, and where Tom Petty worked when he lived here in Gainesville, and I can drop more Gainesville Great Names.....but we can talk about all of this when you get here !
