Women’s Fitness Magazine comes to Garden Valley Gym

For Women Only!

Nationally recognized Women’s Fitness Couch, Danny Russo will visit the Garden Valley Family Fitness Center October 26th.

The Garden Valley Family Fitness Center will host a presentation focusing on Women’s health, fitness, strength training, and diet. The presentation is geared directly towards the needs of women. This should be a fun, informative and useful presentation. There is no charge for admission.

If you have never visited the Garden Valley Family Fitness Center, this is a good time to tour the gym, learn about the facilities and services, and gain an insight into training specifically for your needs.

Revealing Garden Valley Event

Mountain Makeover Reveal

Women's Health, Fitness and Positive Mind and Body Changes will be the focus of the Mountain Makeover Reveal.

Friday October 16th
Crouch Community Hall
6:00 - 8:30 PM

Four Women participants have been working for months to improve their health and fitness. On Friday evening they will reveal the success of their efforts with their improved health, new do's, makeup and outfits. The Mountain Makeover Reveal will be a celebration of the efforts of these women as well as a chance to learn more about making positive changes to your own health.

The event activities will include hors d'oevres, wine tasting, demonstrations, and product vendors.

I hope to see you there. We'll have a great time, enjoy and girls' night out and learn something at the same time.

Halloween - Garden Valley Style

Trunk or Treat

Saturday October 31st, 2009

6:00 - 8:00 PM

Garden Valley is a rural, mountainous community where there are few neighborhood that kids can Trick or Treat door to door. Mom and Dad would have to drive their little goblins around the valley. Local kids miss the interaction of Halloween celebrations in more urban neighborhoods.

Thus, the advent of Trunk or Treat, an easier, safer and more fun way for one and all to enjoy the Halloween festivities. Adults challenge each other to come up with the scariest transformation of cars and trucks, turning downtown Crouch into a veritable "spook" parking lot. Set up begins in the afternoon. Festivities begin at 6:00 PM. Bring lots of candy. If you are really brave, you can sign up to be judge of the best car or truck costume.

Prizes will be donated by the Crouch Merc.

1st Annual Market Street Strut in Garden Valley


Don’t miss this customer appreciation event in Crouch.

On October 10th from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, the Crouch Merchants are inviting their customers to Strut Down Market Street. We are hoping this will evolve into an annual fall event. So come join the fun and visit with friends and neighbors before they all hibernate for the winter. This could be on of your last chances to see the snowbirds until the Garden Valley Spring Fling next April.

The Cold Is Here! 12 Easy Winterizing Tips.

The temperatures are definitely dropping and the snow is not far behind ( I hope).

Follow these Home Winterizing Tips.

Winter Birdhouse in Garden Valley

  1. Everything and anything that is sitting outside must be stored away. Otherwise, make a map of it’s location in case you need to dig it out from under the snow.
  2. Disconnect hoses from all hose bibs and bury hydrants.
  3. Blow out sprinklers
  4. Stack a weeks worth of firewood in close proximity to the house. Keep the bulk of your firewood away from the siding and out from under overhangs of your home. Stacked wood can attract insects and rodents.
  5. Clean your chimney
  6. Ask Marsha, at the Trading Post, when she expects her next order of grain scoops. Garden Valley snow shovelThey are the best shovels for our snow type. Buy one now before the rush.
  7. Mount snow removal attachments on trucks and tractors or contract with a local snow removal service.
  8. Reverse ceiling fans. They should rotate clockwise for winter.
  9. Close foundation vents
  10. Insulate any pipes that may be exposed or that are running through unheated spaces in the house.
  11. Check batteries in smoke detectors.
  12. Prune away any tree branches or shrubs that will get in the way of shovel.
