After working with clients (relatives) for about 18 months we finally closed on their home yesterday. Just phoned the Title Company to check on funding today and was told the Lender, who shall remain anonymous has requested verification from my buyers bank on whether or not the earnest money check has cleared. This home was a to be build, contract was written in March and so was the earnest money check. Wow, I understand the Lenders concern, but really the check was written 7 months ago and receipted with the Title Company. After closing they decide to verify funds? They probably have a copy of the bank statement in their files with this information.
I wonder if this is a direct result of the bad review my clients gave the lender yesterday?
