Do You Have an Office Angel?

Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts in Lewisburg, West Virginia, does. Her name is Bonnie Roberts. She is very dedicated to her job, and not only works hard, but tries to please everyone in the office. Bonnie is an extremely good person, with an extraordinary spirit. Her positive attitude and wonderful outlook in life prevails, despite the difficult life she's had. Without a doubt, she is someone who counts her blessings and shares them too. Bonnie Roberts, Our Office Angel

While working 8 hours a day at Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts, and cleaning the office on weekends, Bonnie is also raising her nephew, Davy. Bonnie recently just received her B.A. in Education. She hopes to get a teaching job next year, if not sooner. We would hate to see her leave, but know her dream is to teach children. She will be an excellent teacher because of her spirit, love for people, and sweet personality. Like she's done with us, she will touch more lives and serve as an inspiration to young minds that will soon shape the future.

Recently, I hosted our Coldwell Banker Christmas Party. It was a great time for socializing away from the office. The managing broker, Tom Johnson, presented Bonnie with a Christmas card containing $550. This gift was given to express our gratitude to Bonnie for all she does for our office.

As you can tell we all think Bonnie is a fantastic person. Now, I would like to tell you about her true love. And, that is writing. She has written and self-published two books, and is working on her third book. Her first book, "Bruises On the Heart", is a story about the cycle of violence passed down through three generations of one family in West Virginia. The story covers a period from 1946 to the early 1970's and chronicles the love and desperation that keeps a family together even though violence and fear intermingle daily with love and hope.

Bonnie's second book, "Homespun in the Appalachians", is a story about Bonnie's grandmother growing up in the western Virginia mountains and the challenge at the turn of the century when roads were still unpaved and the small towns were scattered about. The book describes her grandparents as being poor, but rich with love, and how that love would sustain her grandmother through the valleys that would lie right down the road or perhaps over the next mountain.

You can buy or download the paperback books from www.lulu.com.

To Bonnie, our office angel, thanks again for everything you do for us. Most of all, thanks for just being you. We wish you all the success that life has to offer.

Recognizing the Greenbrier Valley Board of Realtors

The Greenbrier Valley Board of Realtor's Installation and Awards Banquet was held today at the Lewisburg Elks Country Club. This was my first attendance to the monthly Board meetings, since I obtained my West Virginia license. It was somewhat different than the Virginia Board meetings, but the missions are basically the same.

Christmas Parades in Greenbrier County, West Virginia

This weekend was a very busy week for Greenbrier County. Three Christmas parades were held in Ronceverte, Lewisburg and White Sulphur Springs. My real estate office, Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts, participated in all three parades. I only participated in the Lewisburg parade, which had floats, bands, civic and youth groups (boy scouts, schools), emergency vehicles, etc. It was so much fun. The temperature was around 34 degrees. We threw candy at the crowd, waved and laughed a lot.

I didn't take pictures, since I was busy throwing candy and waving to the crowd. I'll try to remember to take pictures at the next parade to be held on New Year's Day. The parade started at 1:00 pm. It started to snow about 3:00 pm, and it is expected to continue through the night.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I'm loving it!

An Evening out in Lewisburg with West Virginia Jazz Orchestra and Tony Nalker

Saturday evening, after another Thanksgiving dinner, my family attended the Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) in Lewisburg, West Virginia. The event was the West Virginia Jazz Orchestra with special guest Tony Nalker. Get this-- a $10 admission. It was really a superb evening. My nephew, Robert Vasvary and his wife Nicolena were so amazed that this small town had so much to do. They loved the show,! It was so relaxing, and we enjoyed the big band music and holiday cheer.

The West Virginia Jazz Orchestra is comprised of area musicians -- retired music professors, working professional musicians, and ecellent amateur musicians. Cathy Sawyer, Artistic Director at GVT, was the vocalist. Tony Nalker has served since 1989 as the pianist of the U.S. Army Blues Band.

Please read more about Greenbrier County!

What a great evening, and to think I was so full of turkey and all the trimmings, I almost stayed home. Glad I went, as it was a truly amazing evening.
